We’ve been in school since the beginning of August. We should not have shut down last March. Teachers received $200 as a one time bonus.
I’m with the teachers. If it’s dangerous enough to wear masks, require distancing, etc., then it’s too dangerous to be there.
Oakland, CA...Parents often not involved too much in their kids’ education...Many households headed by single mothers...A lot of discipline problems...Even in elementary schools...
My opinion...Those Oakland district teachers were very happy to work from home...They did not have to be in the same classroom with their students who are often very undisciplined...
They did not show up because they were scared of COVID...They did not show up because they were scared of dealing with their students again...They got used to not dealing with them in person...
Oakland teachers...You are getting nice pay and benefits because you have to deal with students who are very undisciplined...
I do not have too much sympathy for these Oakland teachers...
These teachers shouldn’t get paid for one.
Second, they should be ineligible for unemployment since they choose not to work.
Third, the taxpayers should be refunded their property/sales taxes that would have otherwise paid for the schools and teachers.

If the kids aren’t learning or learning anything truthful and useful, then teachers NOT returning is a blessing in disguise.
Remember, this is Maxine Water’s “Oakland”. The last thing she wants are educated constituents. She might lose her “phony bolognie job” if that happened.
