This is the age of absurdity, where a song’s video matters more than its melody.

I hate to inform the writer, but this has been going on for decades.

And before video, radio airplay drove the "success" of a song. Little-known bands remained, little-known with rare exception. Frank Zappa made it to the BBC's "top musicians of the millennium" list and released about 25 albums in his lifetime with barely any radio success. Metallica had NO radio or video airplay before Master of Puppets.

Today, there are countless outlets for people to find high-quality new and even unsigned new acts and interesting music. But, just like since the days of radio and MTV, people do not WANT to do their own research...they like being told what's good. Thus, while it's easy to bash YouTube et al, the simple reality is, most people like having product pushed to them.

Oh, and Springsteen always sucked as a singer.
