Riots flare again in Northern Island despite calls for calm

Northern Ireland police faced a barrage of petrol bombs and rocks on Thursday, an AFP journalist said, as violence once again flared in Belfast despite pleas for calm.

Riot police on the republican side of the divided city were pelted with projectiles as they tried to prevent a crowd moving towards pro-UK unionists.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Irish counterpart Micheal Martin had earlier called for “calm” following days of violence that included a petrol-bomb attack on a moving bus.

Martin and Johnson held telephone talks in which they stressed that “violence is unacceptable” and “called for calm”, the Irish leader’s office said.

But their calls went unheeded as night fell in Belfast, with unrest breaking out on the republican side of the capital.

Rioting over the last few days—the city’s worst unrest in recent years—had mainly stemmed from its unionist community, leading to joint condemnation from political leaders in the British province.

Unionists are angry over apparent economic dislocation due to Brexit and existing tensions with pro-Irish nationalist communities.

This time the unions started the fighting. This wasn’t about ultra-nationalist Irish bombing places. This was about unions going crazy because they won’t get their bread and butter from the United Kingdom anymore.

Though we did have a coup and it was successful, I think Trump is the reason brexit happened and though I am not thrilled with some decisions the Supreme Court has made, it’s a hell of a lot better than the 3 a Democrat president would have ceded.

Joe manchin is not very dependable but I hope he sticks to his promise that he won’t vote to increase the number of Supreme Court Justices

I won’t hold my breath if it comes to it though

That crazy bisexual b**** senator from Arizona might be more reliable than Joe Manchin though. She’s not afraid to stick it to the Left, for whatever reason it is.

I used to laugh at the saying “...to hell in a hand basket.”...as in we are all going to...etc. Well, Biden came along, and its just not so funny anymore. Somehow this pathetic man is literally failing everybody in the world, simply because he is not all there. Strange, but true.

It is amazing how quickly things have changed in the World. I can’t place all of the blame on Biden, but it is odd how things seem to be spinning out of control in various places.

I think Trump is the reason brexit happened

Rumblings about Brexit started years before Trump was a candidate and the referendum was voted on 5 months before Trump was elected and 7 months before he took office.

As I've posted before, the violence of the last four five days was triggered not by BRexit but by the decision of the authoritites last week not to prosecute anyone for breaking the lockdown regulations at the funeral held last year of IRA terrorist Bobby Storey. Many of the old IRA - Sinn Fein veterans gathered, flaunting the rules. Elsewhere, the police have been enforcing these regulations vigorously.
The Loyalists are deeply upset that (as so often the case) it is one rule for IRA - Sinn Fein terrorists and another for the rest; and rightly or wrongly they are making their anger known.
