This is heartbreaking. There are so many good black people and so many that I truly admire. But now, I am suspicious of every-but especially young people- black person I encounter. I am now armed with the knowledge that, as an elderly white woman, I am prime prey. I now carry a .357 with .38 loads, a sap, pepper spray and a loud siren clipped to my purse. I HATE THIS.

According to FBI crime statistics (which the FBI does an excellent job of maintaining despite their other flaws) ... black males account for more than 51% of all violent crime, despite being approximately 6.5% of the overall population.

Am I unusual? I tend to like most people until they give me reason not to. Sometimes the reasons can be questionable...too fat, ugly hairstyle (dreds), perceived attitude from facial expressions, but I try to ignore those until I become acquainted with the individual. And if I don’t like them I leave them alone. If they approach me I try to remain polite and civil. But now my whiteness renders me a bigot, regardless of my behavior!
