As a former long time listener to Dan Patrick’s radio station I’d guess Mr. Patrick is just dumb. He always struck me as an attention seeking, not very smart, but well intentioned conservative.
The fine hands and cold cash of globalist oligarchs reaches far.
Complicated? Yes
Here was the original bill that passed the house.
HB 1927 Text: https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/87R/billtext/html/HB01927I.htm
I’ve not read Patrick’s proposal, but the original bill is complicated enough. If his is more complicated, it is probably not a good bill. For me, Simple Works.
It will be interesting to see who is influencing Dan.
Looks like Dan needs to upgrade the batteries in his hearing aid because there is a drum beat of support for the bill in real world outside of Austin.
Here is the text of the proposal by Dan Patrick.

Is it DPS input that is causing Dan Patrick to gum the works?
“Is it DPS input that is causing Dan Patrick to gum the works?”
Ding, ding, ding.... we have a winner.
I noticed that the principal author of the bill is listed as Texas Sen. Charles Schwertner, from Georgetown.
About Sen. Charles Schwertner
Charles Schwertner is an Orthopedic Surgeon from Georgetown, Texas. He earned his BS in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin and his MD at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Representative Schwertner is the managing partner of Georgetown Orthopedics, LLC, a medical clinic in the Williamson County area. Representative Schwertner has served in the Texas House of Representatives since 2011.
The part about UT Austin does not impress me much. UT has always been riddled with flaming leftie liars and frauds. You cannot judge a person by that but the influence of the Left is strong at that University. It is the sad reality of the situation.
DPS (read the state of Texas) does not want to lose a revenue stream nor the control. Run the numbers and you’ll realize the monies involved. In addition, those that subsist on handgun training will be adversely affected.
When Bush was running for office, I remember the media taking photo ops of Bush, with a cowboy hat and gloves mending bob-wire fences.
Uh..yea...right. He’z what we call all hat and no cattle.
I expected that was true. I looked at the top leadership in DPS and Homeland Security ranks.
The Texas Ranger ranks have risen in numbers, the old group were squeaky clean and effective. Too many of the new comers are not carrying those traits, from what I have read.
