Is Dan Patrick trying to sabotage Constitutional Carry
Gun Owners of America ^ | 23-April-2021 | Rachel Malone

Posted on 04/23/2021 6:25:08 PM PDT by ptsal

The Texas House passed a strong Constitutional Carry bill (HB 1927) a week ago in a decisive 87-58 bipartisan vote. But instead of immediately moving HB 1927 forward in the Senate, Lt. Governor Patrick secured the votes Thursday to suspend the rules and file his own poison pill version of Constitutional Carry, SB 2224 – over a month past the filing deadline. SB 2224 is confusing and complicated. It creates profiling regulations that will burden law-abiding gun owners.

This is a poison pill bill by some accounts.

We encourage this committee to focus on moving HB 1927 forward as the most efficient path to passing Constitutional Carry in Texas. Time is ticking down, and there is no need to waste time sending a new bill to the House when the House has already done the heavy lifting to pass a strong bill. We call on Lt. Gov. Patrick to use his position to secure the necessary votes and pass HB 1927 in the Senate without delay.

Call Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick at 1-512-463-0001

Is it really this complicated?

Citizens of Texas may openly and freely carry a weapon of their choice without necessity of a permit, exam, or any other restriction.

Have you read the bill (HB 1927)?

Your response makes me wonder.

I suspect that the NCAA threatened to pull a Final Four if the bill passed.

I like Dan Patrick, but if he is the hurdle here, like him or not he can be voted out.

Dan Patrick, born Dannie Scott Goeb from Baltimore Maryland. DAMN IT! Just like the Bush family. All from the Northeast.

They come here to Texas and pervert the hell out of our states politics.

More than 10 years ago when the wife and I were determined to leave our home state of California we had two states on our radar. Texas and Florida. I favored Texas. She favored Florida. Of course, we moved to Florida.
More and more it’s looking like we made the right decision. Texas senior-level Republicans are looking more like RINO’s with every passing day.
Meanwhile, we Floridians have Gov. Ron Desantis. And, we couldn’t be happier about this. Texas appears to have a Gov. and Lt. Gov. that appear to be All Hat, No Cattle, as the saying goes.

Yep.

We need to jettison that GOP.

Crud, I have liked some of what he’s said in the past two years.

Time to primary him with Abbott.

Yep. Look at the Republican Governors who have caved when it came to the transgender bills. Or the Governors who didn't do jack about election fraud and overrode the legislature.

Republicans just don't know how to control the narrative and go on offense. Ron Johnson was trending for his common-sense remarks about vaccines, that people should be free to get them on their own, and got skewered by the blue-checks on Twitter. Did any Republican stand up for him? Even Johnson himself went on Wilkow's show and half-heartedly defended his remarks.

Yep Lived in Texas 30 years. Its all in attitude and hype. Most of the worst leaders and legislation has come from Texas (Roe vs. Wade, no prayers in school,) and 3 of the worst presidents as well. You made a good choice in moving to Florida...minus the humidity and hurricanes.

After scanning SB 2224, it seems that the poison pill is to require the handgun owner to get a license to carry that has the same requirements as the concealed carry permit.
