(Reuters) - Fully vaccinated people can safely engage in outdoor activities like walking and hiking without wearing masks but should continue to use face-coverings in public spaces where they are required, U.S. health regulators said on Tuesday.
The updated health advice comes as more than half of all adults in the United States have now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
"The release of these new guidelines is a first step at helping fully vaccinated Americans resume activities they had stopped doing because of the pandemic, while being mindful of the potential risk of transmitting the virus to others," the CDC said.
Wearing face masks has been considered by experts as one of the most effective ways of controlling virus transmission. With most COVID-19 transmission occurring indoors, and vaccinations on the rise, the use of masks outdoors has been under public debate for weeks in the United States as Americans look to enjoy the benefits of being fully vaccinated.
New COVID-19 cases have dropped 16% in the last week as the U.S. surpassed 140 million people having received at least one shot of authorized vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson's one-dose vaccine.
This was the biggest percentage drop in weekly new cases since February, according to a Reuters analysis of state and county data.
SMALL OUTDOOR GATHERINGS
The agency said fully-vaccinated Americans can safely dine outdoors with friends from multiple households at restaurants and attend small outdoor gatherings with a mixture of fully vaccinated and unvaccinated people.
CDC continues to recommend masking for crowded outdoor events such as parades and sporting events and indoor visits to the hair salon...

Isn’t it great having such power to intimidate?
Quoting DJT “I felt like Superman!”
Just smile, wave at them and say, “What a great day!” as you or they pass you without your mask.
me, too
outside of a dr visit last summer, I have not worn a mask.
anywhere
got a few side-eye looks from some Karensheep, but the only person to say anything was a menards employee a few months ago. I left my full cart in the middle of the aisleway and walked out. havent been in a menards since, and will likely not ever patronize them again, moving forward.
Oh yeah, those people are hilarious. I’ve had it happen to me twice in my grocery store parking lot. Both times, I was approaching the store with my free and open face and encountered masked individuals with fearful eyes above their face diapers making a big show of veering far to the side to avoid getting too close to me.
Both times, I laughed out loud and kept walking.
BOL!
My wife asked how long the masked idiots would be still behave like idiots after that parking lot adventure.
We have seen a positive change re masks to no masks on our cul de sac.
Basically, no one wears a mask outside where we live. We have hills in our area and often a breeze from 5-10 mph. Even young healthy people with brains don’t wear masks walking on hills.
In spite of the realities, I can see the Karens playing their, “You Vill wear a masks!” B$ for a year or two down the road. Unfortunately, that may lead to violence or as one of younger male friends has warned the Karens to leave him alone.
I hate that man, Gov. Lee. Also despise Blackburn and Hagerty since 1/6/2021. May they all burn in hell — and be primaried.
In January 2020 my wife (who works at a University in the economics department which was filled with Chinese graduate students freshly back from China at the time) and I and half the people I work with came down with the worst flu of our lives, just before the Scandemic began. It took weeks to clear out our lungs.

Had the same experience at work as we had engineers to-from Chyna all of 2019 due to outsourced projects. Took me about 8 weeks to get “normal” even though I was on plenty of immune system boosters(no EVMS protocol back then), now wifey & I are on the EVMS prophylactic protocol with Pony Paste in stock if needed.
About your future lawyer use, I’ve researched it a bit as employer is getting “too hopeful” that everyone becomes a lab rat that can still get the virus. We’ve had 2 employees get hospital-visit-required reactions to the lab rat inject-a-juice. At 65-1/2, I’ve survived enough REAL issues(3 pandemics and early polio REAL vax) to know I’m not rolling the dice to take the RNA not-really-a-vaccine shot.

I have never worn a mask outdoors. There has never been any law or order requiring it so long as you can maintain six feet distance (how hard is that OUTDOORS?). The practice of masking outdoors is an invention of the frightened Karens which was then followed by the rest of the herd because (”that’s what everyone else is doing”).
Yellow stars on sleeves of the unvaxx?
Have you ever tried one of the OTC steroid nasal sprays, along with your favorite antihistamine, for your hay fever? Rhinocort has budesonide in it, and studies have shown it can help prevent or lessen Covid19 symptoms. I don’t have hay fever, but I have chronic congestion and post nasal drip, and the steroid nasal spray I use, works wonders. And they don’t cause rebound congestion like the non-steroidal sprays do.
The only time I wear one outdoors, is when I put one on before going into a store. Why would anyone wear one outside? But then, I live in the free State of Oklahoma.
I usually try the generic version of Allegra. The main thing is anything I take has to be non-drowsy since my job requires driving from location to location.
I wear a mask only when required to when I go in to the office, went in today...2nd time since this all started.
I take generic Claritin, which is also non-drowsy. I take 10 mg twice daily. The instructions say once daily, but the ear, nose and throat doctor told me to take it twice a day. But it only dries up secretions, which is why the doctor put me on Flonase nasal spray, twice daily. Because it takes care of the congestion, and I can’t take nasal decongestant pills, as they make me very jumpy and nervous.
Praise be! All God’s chillin’ can puts away de masks when we gwine be outside!
Yass Sir. Kingdom comin’ in the year of Jubilee!
