Let him run as an Independent. All the votes will come from the Demonrat side. The last thing FL Demonrats need is an ugly primary, and this guarantees it.
He was an ‘R’ then “I” and at this time a “D”. Strong convictions.....NOT.
If memory serves, his losing the GOP primary to TEA Party candidate Marco Rubio is why he defected from the Republican Party. Mitch sure lost big.

Democrats say they like and appreciate Crist — who was a top surrogate for former President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012 and was an early backer of President Joe Biden’s campaign last year. But there’s a sense among many that his time might be past, especially if Demings enters the race.
“The one thing we know about politics is the people like new. And Val would be new,” said John Morgan, an Orlando trial lawyer and Democratic donor who once employed Crist.
Morgan is also a big a fan of Demings and was a strong advocate for her joining Biden’s ticket. Biden, instead, chose another Black woman running mate, Kamala Harris, who is also of South Asian descent. Asked what he’ll do if Demings and Crist both run, Morgan quipped, “move to Maui until it’s over.”
“Val will be formidable. But the thing about Charlie Crist is that no one goes out for money, fundraises, like Charlie,” Morgan said. “He will be nonstop. The campaign will be nonstop.”

As Gov., Charlie ‘R’ bent-over for Obama’s I-4 High-speed Rail in 2009. He slobbered about it! When Rick Scott became his successor, Rick CANCELLED that monstrosity! Charlie and all those kleptocrats cried, sued and predicted doom! Every time you see California’s implementation eat another bazillion, I thank Rick Scott!

Don't worry about that - he's been politically all over the place over the years.
Charlie Crist ran and won as a Republican for governor in 2006 - he ran for Senate 2010 but Marco Rubio took the lead in the polls and it was clear Crist was going to lose the Republican Primary by a big margin - this made him bitter so he dropped out of the primary, and also left the Republican Party and became an Independent and ran against Rubio in the general election - Rubio beat him handily. Democrats pressured their own nominee to drop out to try to help Crist win. Republican Rick Scott in that same election was elected governor. In 2014, Crist became a Democrat and decided to challenge Rick Scott for his own job back. Rick Scott defeated him and was re-elected.
If he could not defeat Rick Scott I don't see him being able to defeat DeSantis.
