Former President George W. Bush said he believes the Republican Party will win in future elections if its members embrace traditional ideals and curb the "white Anglo-Saxon Protestantism."
Asked about the state of the Republican Party, Bush told "The Dispatch Podcast" he believes there's potential to win in the upcoming midterm elections and the 2024 presidential election.
"I think Republicans will have a second chance to govern because I believe that the Biden administration is a uniting factor, particularly on the fiscal side of things," he said.
But the Republican Party will not win by representing ideals tied to white supremacy, he suggested.
"If the Republican Party stands for exclusivity - it used to be country clubs, now it's white Anglo-Saxon Protestantism - then it's not going to win anything," Bush said.

In case he wasn’t clear enough, if you are white and/Protestant, the GOPe hates you. That has been evident for quite a while. Trump flushed it out into the open, and he didn’t even set out to do that.

George W. Bush has already done his damage, leading us into a needless war in Iraq that killed or maimed thousands of young Americans and cost us billions of dollars, paving the way for Barack Obama. There’s nothing more Bush can do to harm conservatism in the US - every time he opens his mouth now, he only further harms the chances of any other Bush ever achieving national office, and that’s a good thing.

Did he define what ‘white, Anglo-Saxon Protestantism’ ideals are? Nope. Typical leftism is to attack a ‘controversial’ target or symbol to get an emotional rise but without defining the logic or debating the facts. W. As long as the market sector working people are a voting majority, the Republican Party should do OK.
