Soros-Backed Mag Pushes For 5 New States To ‘End Whiteness’ Of Government.
OpenDemocracy, a left-wing magazine funded by organizations linked to George Soros, called for granting statehood to five U.S. territories in order to “end the whiteness of Congress.”
Written by Karl Widerquist, a Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University-Qatar, the piece argues that “one of the most transformative things Democrats could do with their narrow majority in Congress would be to grant statehood to all the remaining inhabited US territories”: Washington DC, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Mariana Islands.
The article – “The Case For Five New States” – argues that doing so would assist in “ending the whiteness of Congress.” “These territories have so far been prevented from becoming states as part of a larger, long-standing project to keep the Senate and Electoral College White,” it argues before adding “given American history, it’s reasonable to believe that their ethnic makeup is a primary reason why they are not states already.”
“And by refusing to grant them statehood, the White majority is effectively choosing to guard and maintain its outsized influence in the federal government,” Wilderquist notes.
OpenDemocracy has taken several grants from George Soros’s Open Society Foundations, including a grant from the left-wing group’s policy center worth $55,000 to $83,000 and a grant worth over $138,000 from the foundation in 2020 alone. The organization has been funding the outlet annually since at least 2012.

Yea, thats what I thought.
I remember reading somewhere, that apparently the U.S. violated some post-war international treaty by not allowing Hawaii and Alaska the chance to vote for independence before granting them statehood in 1959. Of course it has been ignored, but I think the ‘Native Hawaiians’ have cited it.
1. DC - A bit of a misnomer because they don't want to make the "entire" district a state. The want to partition off most of it to make a state and leave what's required to remain the federal district.
2. PR - Is more liberal than many think. Their legislature is controlled by their version of Democrats. "Popular Democratic Party" which -
"Members of the party are referred to in different terms depending on their faction. In general, those affiliated to the party are commonly called populares (English: "populars") and mostly affiliate with the Democratic Party of the United States.[9]"
The other main party that is in the minority that might have some resemblance to our Republican party, but only by about half it's members, is the "New Progressive Party" which -
"In national/mainland politics, members are split, with some party members affiliating with the Republican Party and some with the Democratic Party,[4] although the PNP tends to be seen as slightly more conservative than the PPD overall.[5]"
As for their Governor -
"Pierluisi is a member of the New Progressive Party in Puerto Rico which advocates statehood for the Island territory. He beat his rivals by over one million votes - the largest margin of victory for a Resident Commissioner in Puerto Rico's history. While on Capitol Hill, Pierluisi caucused with the House Democratic Caucus.[7]"
3. The other territories are closer to wanting to become a state than most think. References here.
"Just" DC and PR becoming states would give them +4 (D) Senators, +5/6 (D) Reps, +2 (D) Governors & +2 (D) controlled state legislatures.
Ah, good ol’ Somalia.
They would leave The Northern Mariana Islands & American Somoa out of the equation because their governments are either mixed (R) & (I) or (D) and (R) respectively so they aren’t the shoe-in’s the others would be. So those territories are non issues for them from the start.
