Exactly. I'm only guessing from the "shared governance" comment that the candidates were told they'd be on a short leash from the radicals who now have control and that the president wouldn't be making any policy changes that didn't meet with their collective approval. Which means their only real function would be to take one for the team when the time comes. Chump's game.
