Nearly 40 percent of workers could make more on unemployment at the $300 level than they would earn by returning to work, according to American Action Forum, a center-right policy institute.

That doesn't sound very hopeful for any quick return to work.

300 a month is about 1.75 more per hour

I don't know where go do your math, but it is $300 per WEEK, not per month. $300/40 = $7.50/hr in addition to the normal state benefit.

In Pennsylvania, that is roughly $16/hour on the low end.

We aren't exactly in hog heaven here in one of the fringe counties around Pittsburgh, but the local McDonalds is advertising a $500 sign-on bonus for new workers. The local Sheetz is advertising a starting wage of $13.75/hour for zero experience.
