Robert Runcie will step down as Broward schools superintendent after a divided School Board approved a $754,900 exit package.
His last day is scheduled to be Aug. 10, although he is expected to stop serving as superintendent once an interim replacement is named.
The agreement was approved with a 5-4 vote following more than three hours of debate. Runcie supporters on the board called the package fair and respectful, while his critics called it too expensive. They also wanted him to leave sooner.

No school admin is worth that kind of coin for essentially doing nothing, what a crock.
After thirty years living in north FL, I’m convinced FL law protects these corrupt little feifdoms as much as possible.
For instance, my local county school board wanted an extra half-cent added to the sales tax for their use.
The referendum wasn’t presented to voters at the even year congressional/presidental elections.
No the referendum appeared in March, without any advertising in the local newspaper or voter outreach postcards from the supervisor of elections.
Needless to say EVERY school teacher, their families, and school employee turned out, while the general public didn’t even know of the referendum
So, the school board wins the tax increase with 80% of the precious few thousand votes cast.
Friggin’ corrupt.
Should so-called conservatives ever decide to get off their fat, useless asses and attend local schoolboard meetings, this crap would end. As a bonus, attending schoolboard meetings and reading the riot act to weenie, leftist schoolboard members would end liberal crap taught in public schools.
