Gov. Abbott Ends $300 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Payment Effective Next Month [June 26th]

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) says Texas will opt out of further federal unemployment compensation related to the COVID-19 pandemic next month, thereby ending the $300 weekly unemployment supplement from the federal government, in order to help unemployed Texans get back to work and to curtail fraudulent unemployment claims.

Abbott made the announcement Monday afternoon, saying he'd informed the U.S. Department of Labor in a letter the state would opt out effective June 26.

“The Texas economy is booming and employers are hiring in communities throughout the state,” said Abbott. “According to the Texas Workforce Commission, the number of job openings in Texas is almost identical to the number of Texans who are receiving unemployment benefits."

Of course not New York. This was done deliberately to addict the people to socialism.

Our idiot Governor, Tony ‘One And Done’ Evers (Douche, WI) will take any and all ‘free money’ he can get his hands on from the Feds. He’d keep us masked forever if he could, too!

You see, he doesn’t understand that ‘free money’ from the Feds are actually Tax Dollars from ‘We The People’ and this is yet another Socialist Democrat money laundering, wealth-spreading venture.

Well, maybe he DOES know that much in his little pea brain...

Our governor is cutting off the gravy train too so employers can find some people to hire already.

Excellent decision. All over town I see help wanted signs. Why work if the government will pay you the same tax free for not working.

The potential workers are making logical decisions.

REMOVED THE INCENTIVE FOR NOT WORKING AND PEOPLE WILL WORK!

Keeps them doing the bidding of their masters.

Sure, I’d like to get paid what I make to stay home, but having been on unemployment before, I prefer working

In fact our governor has to pay people to stop taking Biden money and go back to work already.

Gov. Kevin Stitt and state officials announced a return-to-work incentive Monday.

Oklahomans who are on unemployment will receive $1,200 for going back to work.

Our governor is cutting off the gravy train too so employers can find some people to hire already.

Perhaps what the government should do is take the list of companies with openings and compare it with the list of people on unemployment and then assign a person to a job. The state can tell the unemployed that it's either take the job or lose their benefits. Then they can mandate that the employer has to pay minimum wage, no more and no less. Employers have their workforce and a wage they have to pay that helps their bottom line. Unemployment roles are down. Win/win all around. Right?

Add Indiana to that list. Gov Holcomb just announced the $300 ‘bonus’ to be terminated in June.

Just because there are job openings doesn’t mean a person will be hired. I keep on interviewing but haven’t had a job offer yet. I do agree the extra $300 does deter many people from taking low paying jobs.

Thanks for the heads-up on Indiana!

I have four "tiers" of back-to-work states - Indiana was in the second tier.

The fourth tier is all NaziCommie blue states.
