Well...I bought extra coffee yesterday.
How ironic...I'm a retired chip-maker.
Crumbling slowly around the edges. This is how a civilization collapses.
Too much dependence on computers.
Good preppers would have stuff that’s mechanical and not computer chip dependent.
The prices for older tractors has soared mostly because only John Deere can work on their new tractors.
We have one with the computers and there was one small problem and we fixed it and it still didn’t work had to call the dealer to reset the computer to accept the repair.
You can’t expect to pause the world for 18 months and think everything will work just like it did. Our fertilizer has already doubled, I say we, but it is my son dealing with it, we retired this year.
I was supposed to have Generac whole house generator installed...it’s been delayed ...no chip
I just recieved 65 lbs. of green coffee beans.
I’m good for a year.
A Potato Chip shortage? People are saying it is but one of the seven signs of the Apocalypse!
The horror, the horror.
There’s clearly going to be a market for transport and other machinery that is “old school” mechanical and does contain complicated electronics.
I know for automobiles, much of it is due to government mandates - but what about other things?
My coffee comes from Chiapas Mexico.
What was your specialty? Sour cream and onion?
When the chips are down!
Homemade potato chips are easy to make and delicious.
Can you imagine if we get into to a war of attrition with the ChiComs? "Sorry, but we have to to tool up so could ya'll wait a few years on this war thing"???
(To the author)
Ross Perot? Is that you?
“The worldwide shortage of computer chips will impact all aspects of agriculture for the next two years and beyond…”
BS. Sky is not really falling. Head shake.
I keep at least a year’s supply of coffee on hand at all times. I have a mandolin that slices really thin, and can make my own chips if I have too, but I can’t grow coffee beans in Mo.
I hate my newer van - dang computers are a pain. My older 1996 van-was better, but now the ignition switch needs replacing, and we’ve been waiting months for the replacement.
Probably need to get a bicycle or something. Ha.
Will we need to re-invent the carburetor?
PING!
Got my grocery order open in another window...just added coffee. ;)
NONE of you will want to be around me if I run out of coffee!
I can live without potato chips, though I planted enough seed potatoes last week to yield 500 pounds if all goes well. ;)
All our factories run on chips... Just in time and airy... that defines first world manufacturing.
