"So I just checked out the new specials in this weeks grocery ads. Chicken qtrs. (thighs and legs) are $1.18/lb. - last year they were regularly 49 cents/lb."

I bought chicken leg quarters (20 lbs) at Walmart yesterday for $0.69 a pound. I bake it and give a (de-boned) leg quarter to each of my dogs daily.

When I first started doing this (20+ years ago) they were $0.19 a pound.

The cheapest chicken available at our Walmart 2 days ago was $1.58 for the whole chicken.

I had been buying leg quarters as well as chicken breasts when on sale and canning them when they were cheap. I wanted to can some more, but nothing was cheap.

So maybe next week they’ll have some cheap ones.
