Nikole Hannah-Jones, the controversial founder of the 1619 Project, has lost her alma mater’s offer for tenure and is instead under consideration for a fixed five-year contract as a professor of practice.

NC Policy Watch reported on the change Wednesday amid a wave of criticism of her work. According to the outlet, the University of North Carolina’s board of trustees decided not to approve Hannah-Jones’ tenure – which effectively translates into a career-long appointment – despite support from faculty.

Susan King, dean of the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media, reportedly called the decision “disappointing” and said she was afraid it would create a “chilling effect.”...

Play stupid games ...

The universities are getting a little sick and tired of the socialist handle and it's affecting their bottom line.

What if they gave a school and nobody came

She just showed up without even a Ph.D and expected immediate tenure. What’s amazing is not that she was denied tenure but that the faculty supported it.

They did not give her tenure but will still employ her to indoctrinate students.

I am pleased, but I am also very surprised. Universities seem to prefer outrageous theories.

Do we really want to live in a world where a history professor loses tenure for being proven a total fraud?

The tragedy!

I don't understand the second half of that sentence. Did the faculty support the denial of tenure, or the granting of tenure?

The 1619 Project has never had any historical merit.

Before the French and Indian War, the New World contained thirteen commercial colonial corporations of Great Britain. After the Treaty of Paris was signed in 1768, the consequences of that struggle caused to emerge the distinct attributes of an American identity associating the colonies with each other; an identity separate from and antagonistic to the Crown and Parliament initiatives.

Following the beginning of the rebellion, the country had already seen six of thirteen colonies free slaves and two others abolish the international slave trade. Such initiatives had been prohibited by the Crown and Parliament, which mandated this universal system of bondage for their charters, so colonial economic activities would support the mercantile policies of the mother country.

Let’s hope so.

Poor scholarship should receive a chilling rebuke and should not be rewarded with tenure.

Her work she herself admitted was basically historical fiction.

the fact she would be considered for any “teaching” position is a travesty.

The evil of slavery is not something that the US invented, started, etc. It simply inherited it - it was part of the world at large. One thing unique about our country at the time of the founding was the significant portion of the populace and those in power who were opposed to it. The premise of the 1619 Project is simply a lie.

I have copy of James Madison’s notes taken at the Constitutional Convention. Discourses during debates abhorred the institution and no one defended its propriety. Gouverneur Morris of Pennsylvania said, “It was a nefarious institution. It was the curse of heaven on states where it prevailed. Compare Middle States where a rich and noble civilization marks prosperity and happiness with….great regions of slaves presenting a desert increasing in proportion to these retched beings”. George Mason of Virginia said, “This infernal traffic originated in the avarice of British merchants…. Slavery discourages arts and manufactures….Every master of slaves is born a petty tyrant….They bring the judgement of heaven on a country. As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world they must be in this”.

Susan King is one of the main reasons today’s journalism schools, teachers and graduates are such leftist shits and frauds. She should be fired for promoting the corruption of American history and allowing the hiring of teachers who are dishonest, corrupt, unethical, hate-filled racists and Marxists.

UNC - the center of Marxism in North Carolina.

That wasn’t clear, was it? The faculty supported the granting of tenure, according to the article. The Board of Trustees denied tenure.
