Gov. Kevin Stitt announced Monday that federal pandemic-related unemployment benefits will end in Oklahoma on June 26, and that the state will offer a new workforce incentive for people who go back to work.

Stitt said he will issue an executive order to create a $1,200 incentive for Oklahomans who get off unemployment and go back to work, and that federal benefits will end on June 26.

Advertisement “That gives people six weeks to get off the sidelines and get back into the game,” Stitt said. “Employers across the state tell us their biggest challenge right now is finding new employees. Job openings are at their highest level in the history of our state.”

Stitt said he ended the COVID-19 State of Emergency earlier this month and that COVID-19 is no longer an emergency in the state. So he’s encouraging people to go back to work...

Missed this the other day.

I believe we're up to 21 states now.

I guess just ending the hand outs with 6 weeks notice isn’t enough incentive to get these d-bags back to work?

“Employers across the state tell us their biggest challenge right now is finding new employees. Job openings are at their highest level in the history of our state.”

Same here in York, PA. HELP WANTED signs everywhere, but seemingly few takers, what with the $300/wk gov’t incentive to stay home. That needs to end quickly.

You should see the hand-wringing by the Lefty economists.

Just like there's no proof of vote fraud, there's no proof that ending Uncle Sugar's $300-a-week sugar will "encourage" the sandbaggers...

Our Gov has kind of stepped on the rake a few times. A little gun shy.

I have Pennsylvania in the second tier of four tiers of the remaining states:

[4]
Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska

[4]
Louisiana, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania

[4]
Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin

[16]
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, [Maryland - apply for jobs], Massachusetts,
Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Virginia, Washington

Maybe I should move it to tier 3 from tier 2, considering that the unrepentant Rats who stole the 2020 election for joek and The Ho are firmly in the driver's seat.

This is the Cloward-Piven strategy, clear as day.

Gov “Tommie The Commie” Wolf and others are term-limited this year, and it’ll be a real pleasure to see them leave.

I know. It’s awful, isn’t it? Oklahoma has a lot of people on public assistance. Of course, the generational types aren’t on unemployment.

Texas is doing the same thing and believe it or not folks it's yet another big mistake being made by Republicans.

The people on unemployment now are NOT lazy or "d-bags" or anything else. They are people who WERE WORKING when the corrupt federal government destroyed their jobs to get rid of Trump. So many on here repeat "they don't want to work" bla, bla, bla. Those people need to remind themselves in order to get unemployment YOU HAD TO HAVE A JOB AND BEEN WORKING! So clearly they did want to work and many of them were very happily and gainfully employed. Now back to the solution and mistake red states are making.

Red states are actually punishing their own people for the damage the federal government actually caused in order to get rid of Trump. What Texas and other red states should do is allow those currently receiving benefits to get a job and work full time and STILL file and receive the $300 federal money until that runs out. Workers would not get the state portion yet still receive the extended federal money. That is their money to begin with. The federal government destroyed their job and they should be compensated. These red state governors are in a round about way telling many of the very people that put them in office that they are lazy and that's BS!

Red states should KEEP THE FEDERAL MONEY ALWAYS AS IT'S THEIR MONEY TO START WITH. Let people take a job and still file for the federal portion of the benefits. Why punish those that were hurt most by the covid scam?

Second and I think more importantly states are greatly overlooking the fact that MANY people will not take a job because they don't want to endanger their health by being forced to wear a mask for 8 hours a day. This is a MAJOR factor that is being ignored or just not realized. Wearing a mask all day is dangerous to your health why would you subject yourself to that risk if you don't need to. Governors of red states need to issue executive orders BANNING any employer from forcing employees and customers to wear a mask. Wearing a mask needs to be strictly a personal choice.

Yes, and it’s $300 a week, federal, in addition to what the State pays. My dau, in Texas, job was done away with, early in the pandemic, so she’s on unemployment, but she used that time to get her real estate license, so she should be able to get off really soon.

Tell you what …

Why don’t you try working a menial labor part-time minimum wage job with no benefits before you pass judgement on others.

40 years of solid job experience before the coronavirus lockdowns. But hey I’m just a moocher, leech and d-bag. 95% of it skilled white-collar work

The government and business has absolutely NO problem with importing millions of Indians and Mexicans to take our decent jobs, leaving us with crumbs, yet are so concerned that no one wants to work menial labor fast-food and restaurant jobs

Ok..

so they were working..

what stops them from working now?

waiting for a job in the same field?
waiting for a their old job to come back?
waiting for a raise?

sorry, (not sorry) if they were working, they can get their butts back to work now. might not be the same job, same place, same wages, but sitting on their ass on my dime is unacceptable. You only seem to be worried about the taker (the person getting unemployment) what about my grand kids (who haven’t even been born yet) who are paying them to sit there and do nothing?

if red states want to keep their cut to uncle sam you won’t hear me complain.

tell you what...

why don’t you pick up their unemployment tab, NO job is beneath someone... same thing I told a family member, get off your backside and get a damn job. Unemployment doesn’t have health insurance either.

I have a help wanted sign out right now. 40 an hour.

only getting high school drop outs applying that can’t even fill out an application.

that job 2 years ago paid 20 an hour.

I see HW signs in convenience stores, restaurants, strip mall stores of many kinds, real estate, shopping mall sales, and yes, fast-food jobs. There’s also a big shortage of CDL-1 & CDL-2 truck drivers.

Incredible divide between red states and blue states. Most red states have ended the Fed unemployment payments because most of their citizenship believes in self reliance. The blue states, on the other hand, will always fight for that free handout. The difference in mentality is striking.

Biden’s solution for finding workers that are not available because of the Federal employment benefits is to open the border and fill the jobs with illegals. Kind of like amputating your leg because you have an ingrown toe nail.
