I’m not gleeful that he was in a jail to begin with. The clink is not psych ward or a detox ward. It’s rediculous that 30 years into a drug epidemic with more drugs being legalized in states, that jails are the first and only answer. It’s 2021 and it’s unacceptable, for the public and for the cops.

But why the blazes was the man being taken out of his cell, where he was safe, and strapped to a chair —for the 2nd time in the two days— since an arrest on minor, bailable, charges? Was a call for medical put in either time? Who ordered the chair and just how often is it used on people who haven’t even seen a judge yet or maybe not even a lawyer?

Tell me why the average nursing home staff in Anytown USA can handle hullicinating, combative, delusional clients without putting them on the floor and hogtying them, and guards can’t? If a nursing home patient was treated the way the guards treated this man, those involved would be in jail faster than you can say jack rabbit. If guards wanna play wrangler, maybe they should save it for really bad guys that are more likely to hurt them, and ease up the soft targetpractice using the temporarily intoxicated.

I”m also not gleeful of the comment and later mocking the black female officer made. I don’t care if she was kicked or whatnot after joining the fray - part of the job same as a farmer getting kicked by a goat, or a street cop having paint poured on him. I think she needs to go work in a flower shop where minutes don’t count and lives aren’t at stake.
