Hating Tim Tebow is a great American sin
Orlando Sentinel ^ | 22 May2021 | Mike Bianchi

Why would Keyshawn Johnson, as the Associated Press reported earlier this week, walk off the set of his national radio show in apparent shock and disgust at Tim Tebow signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a backup tight end?

Why would ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and many other media figures rail against “White privilege!” when Urban Meyer, Tebow’s college coach with the Florida Gators, signed Tebow to play on his hometown NFL team?

Why does there seem to be so many people rooting against Tebow — one of the most caring, compassionate, benevolent, big-hearted, philanthropic, altruistic role models in the history of sports?

I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t think “The Great Tim Tebow Tight End Experiment” is going to work in Jacksonville and I don’t think it’s a good idea when the Jaguars are embarking on an exciting new era with Meyer as the head coach and No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence as the starting quarterback. However, you better believe I will be rooting loudly and proudly for this experiment to work and for Tebow to be a resounding success.

He actually put in the work instead of whining about his skin color.

The answer is in the question.

He raises the behavioral bar to heights many do not desire to or cannot reach.

They hate him because he is a Christian.

The Hatred of the World John 15:18-25 ESV

18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21 But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin,[a] but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. 25 But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: ‘They hated me without a cause.’

I hope Tim makes the team and that the Jags have a good year.

HST, until I am FULLY convinced that the NFL flatly rejects racism, antifa, BLM, Critical Race Theory, the cancel culture and the players and coaches quit kneeling for the National Anthem and disrespecting their fans, I’ll not be watching them!

Tim Tebow is the only reason I would watch any Jaguar plays, much less games. I am from Jacksonville and I graduated from UF before Tim Tebow was born. Otherwise, I could care less what happens to the NFL.

He obviously was a useful quarterback and got run out of the NFL because he’s a conservative Christian.

Too many on here bought into the analysis that a Heisman Trophy national champion and NFL playoff winner had such a defective throwing motion that he couldn’t compete in the NFL.

The reason he wasn’t in the NFL anymore was the same reason a LOT of successful college QBs aren’t in the game anymore; his skillset didn’t lend itself to playing the position in the pros.

He didn’t get through his progressions quickly enough. He had a slower delivery with only average arm strength which made making some of the crucial bread & butter plays NFL QBs need that much more difficult and he wasn’t very accurate. I could go on. He simply didn’t have what it took to build a team around.

Had he converted to another position - again, as a lot of graet college QBs do - he may have extended his career because he’s such a great athlete. But, he didn’t have any interest in doing that...at the time.

Tim Tebow is a favorite son of Florida and his old coach is now the coach of that time. It's totally moronic to suggest his race was a contributing factor, and just demonstrates once again how moronic the concept of "white privilege" is. It's good PR optics and a morale boost if nothing else - both of which are beneficial to a team and to inspire the fan base.

In college, at most maybe you face two or three defensive players of NFL quality on any particular day, college there’s a lot more room for error. You may have your receivers able to get enough separation that even passes slightly off the mark, or late still get caught. In the NFL, you simply don’t have that margin for error.

I am not a gator fan, though i live just outside Gainesville. But the only gator nicer than Danny Wuerful is Tim Tebow.
People that hate Tebow, hate everyone, including themselves, their mamas, and anyone that they’ve ever talked to.

Dont wanna hear about the faux white privileged screed. Was it white privileged when the NFL set up a special comeback demo event for Colin Kraperfink ( which he changed the location last second)? I don’t remember Tebow getting any special treatment that way. The Jags invited him to try out. Marshawn Lynch made a tryout comeback a few seasons ago and good for him. Those who oppose Tebow well scrooge them. They don’t define his paths and journeys.

Russell Wilson is a Christian, too, tweeting all the time about how Jesus loves you, etc. but he doesn’t get the hate.

It’s simple.

They’re mad because they know Tim is a far better man than they are.

I will always root for Tim Tebow. The rest of the NFL can $#it their britches. Don’t care, won’t watch ever again...
