Schlichter’s style is too cute by several halves. This reader had to pull over to the shoulder and re-read that line about the squatting hobo because I had no idea what he meant.
I resumed reading, but when I got to “silly rabbits,” I had to google it to glean what he was reaching for. Apparently this phrase goes back to a 1959 commercial. At that point it was 23 skidoo, Kurt; the phrase cropped up some 4 decades before you were born, how do you like it?
I’m saving this to read whenever I feel down about what’s really going on in the world. If this won’t make you laugh, nothing will. Great job by the author!
