Last Friday, anti-Semitic thugs attacked a Jewish family, yelling “Free Palestine!,” “Die Jew!” “F– you Jew,” and “I’m gonna rape your wife.” Fortunately, an armed driver was able to stand between the attackers and the family. You may not hear about many of these stories, but they occur all the time. And there are dozens of cases in recent years where concealed handgun permit holders have stopped what police say would have been mass public shootings. Those would make gripping stories.
But don’t ever expect to see gripping stories like this on entertainment television. For years network television, ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox, refuse to show even a single successful defensive gun use by a civilian. You would surely never know that people successfully use guns defensively some 2 million times a year.
Instead, defensive gun use is shown to always goes wrong. Either the citizen ends up being murdered by the criminal without hurting any of the criminals, accidentally shoots a loved one, or is a danger to themselves and the police. And this bias has been going on for years across all the networks.
Just take some examples so far this year.
NBC’s Chicago PD, Season 8, Episode 14, May 12, 2021: A homeowner tries to use a gun defensively to stop a home robbery and ends up being shot by one of the robbers.
In another episode of that show (Episode 4, January 27, 2021), a woman tries using a gun to stop an abusive boyfriend from hurting her, but he takes the gun from her and beats her. The boyfriend then uses the gun that he stole from her to murder a police officer. There is no notion that if a much physically stronger

I always remember reading in a 1970s issue of American Rifleman a story regarding a recent interview that Jack Lord (Hawaii Five-O) did in which he said he was all for banning handguns and other such strict gun control measures.

Of over 14000 murders, fewer than 300 were committed with rifles.
(There is no breakout by "type" of rifle, so no AR data)
So, banning ARs would have no meaningful affect on the murder rate.

Exactly correct.
Legislation restricting firearms is not about reducing crime.
It is about exerting political power and control.
It is showing the "governed" who is master and who is servant.
It is all about reversing the idea that in the United States, the people are sovereign.
Even “reality” shows are fidiots. On Bearing Sea Gold last week, the Kelly crew are wanting to dive near the town of Elim AK and the locals ain’t happy and fire a couple shots. One of the Kelly’s says “One of them has an AR-15!” OH NOES! Guess that’s more deadly than say a .308 or an old 30-06 hunting rifle. The nets have done their job of turning a mediocre round into something that could take down the International Space Station with a single shot. Grrrrrrrrrr!
There are examples of polar and grizzly bears being easily brought down with the AR-15 and the .223 caliber.
My suspicion is most examples are never publicized.
Ever notice how guns are always referred to as registered or not on “entertainment” TV? To the best of my knowledge only a few jurisdictions require gun registration: Hawaii, DC, NYC come to mind as the only jurisdictions where the local tyrants and their jackboots require registration.
For entertainment /TV we watch mostly British cop shows on Acorn and Britbox

Many years ago I prevented a home (apartment) invasion one night by answering the door with a cocked Hafdasa Mollina in my hand. It was never reported, and I moved out of the neighborhood less than two weeks later.
A decent, well made pistol.
Was enough to give pause to the A-Hole....
