I agree- a couple of broken windows and a laptop? We were told damage estimates were ess than 10k for several months. Probably adding on the cost of the all the emergency construction / fencing and barricades and housing snd salary of the national guard for several months plus they are likely capitalizing the costs ofUS attorneys, FBI, therapy sessions for congress members, etc.
I have to say, while I was NOT happy about these idiots, the only “vandalism” I saw was windows busted in for entry (not even just for the fun of it). Don’t get me wrong, those windows are expensive. Many are stained and frosted glass, who knows how old and original.
Meanwhile, instead of pulling down statues they took selfies with them, and instead of spray-painting everything they slept underneath the giant murals.
Never mind the US flag carried in rather than burned.
Those that were vandalizing - and there were at least a couple of small groups doing just that - do need to pay for repairs. That said, that seems an awfully high estimate.
