MADRID — Spain's postal service is feeling a backlash from its attempt to highlight racial inequality.

State-owned Correos España this week issued a set of four stamps in different skin-colored tones. The darker the stamp, the lower the price. The lightest color costs 1.60 euros ($1.95). The darkest one costs 0.70 euros ($0.85).

Typical racist BS coming from typical racist BS’ers trying too hard to prove how they are not racist.

The black stamp isn’t even worth 3/5ths of the white stamp.

If no one buys them and they are withdrawn they might be worth something one day. Philatelists know.

I think we all know exactly what would have happened if the order had been reversed.

They would've been criticized for celebrating light skin with the cheapest everyday stamp in the series while relegating the darkest skin to heavier mail pieces which are rarely sent . . . and people of color can't afford.

There is no way to appease these jagoffs no matter what you do.

You can’t expect Spaniards to know US history but yeah I noticed that too.

LOL. The message I get from this is that it takes two Italians to do the same job as one German.

Spain has the second largest number of unmarked mass graves in the world. They still have people living with neighbors who tortured them during the Franco years and even the current government refuses to help families identify relatives who were tortured, murdered and dumped in mass graves. So naturally they have a massive overreaction in the opposite direction and try to prove how progressive they are.

College Republicans have been doing something similar with cookie sales for over a decade now.

Surprised no Freeper has commented on that yet.

Good point!

I wonder if all the colors are on e single sheet or if you’d need to buy a separate sheet for each color.

I went to the post office twice last week, both times to send letters to England. Normally it costs 1.60. I went to the counter and told them what I wanted. The postman weighed the letter and told me it was 1.60, same as any other time. There was no mention of any type of special stamp. Nothing was offered and I didn’t see any ads for these stamps. Even the post office is ignoring this promotion.

Plenty of atrocities were committed by the Progressive (”Republican”) side during the Spanish Civil War.
