President Biden departed for his first foreign trip abroad on Wednesday morning, telling reporters that his goal will be to demonstrate to Russia and China that the alliance between the U.S. and Europe is strong.
“Strengthening the alliance, making clear to Putin and to China that Europe and the United States are tight,” Biden told reporters at Joint Base Andrews before departing for the United Kingdom when asked about the goal of the trip.
Biden also said he would lay out a coronavirus vaccine strategy for the world and that cyberattacks would be a subject of his discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which is scheduled for the end of the weeklong trip.

Fact: In the post Cold War world the USA does not need a presence in Europe or much of anything else from them other than stuff like access to ports and staging areas for our misadventures in the middle east. We do not "need" to be there and we do not "need" them really.
Fact: Europe on the whole has refused to invest in defense in any real way because they knew they could spend our blood and treasure to defend them. They sit on the border of a restless and aggressive world power and they definitely NEED us.
We are not equal partners in this arrangement, we are servants. Trump recognized it and told them to start doing their share or we're done. Biden is going back to tell them "we're here to do your bidding, masters. Oh yeah, I'm on Putin's payroll so he will make you all energy serfs without firing a shot but at least you won't need to spend money on tanks!'
