MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Republican-controlled Wisconsin Legislature voted Wednesday to eliminate a $300-a-week federal bonus for unemployed people, a measure that Democratic Gov. Tony Evers has made clear he's likely to veto.
The federal payment, approved to help the unemployed during the coronavirus pandemic, is scheduled to end on Sept. 6. Twenty-five other states have already approved ending it early, saying it has exacerbated worker shortage problems.

“The problem is Republican policies have driven workers out of the state over the last decade, Hintz said.”
LOL! Nope. CRIME, in both Socialist Democrat controled Madistan and Milwaueestan, are the reason!
Eight years of Governor Walker left us in FINE shape, financially. Thank Gawd that Governor Walker left us a pretty much bullet-proof legislature!
Took them long enough.
This was always about setting precedent for universal income. Another goal of shutting down the economy due to massively overhyped covid.
Crime.
And artificially fostering/promoting the expansion of the crime demographic into areas of law abiding people
Then declaring those people racist
This is the logic one can expect from an ART TEACHER who became Governor.....
Those who can’t do teach and those who can’t teach become Democrat Governors.
Call me when you end Welfare
I’m in Florida and the $300 a week extra is going away here on June 26. Already it’s having an effect, I’ve noticed several fast food places that had their dining rooms closed for lack of workers have now got them open. It looks like some that were milking the extra unemployment got off the couch and went back to work when it was announced the gravy train was coming to an end in a few weeks.
“It looks like some that were milking the extra unemployment got off the couch and went back to work when it was announced the gravy train was coming to an end in a few weeks.”
That’s the hope for Wisconsin, too, but our pencil-necked Socialist Guv will most likely veto it. :(
Not sure we can over-ride it with all of the WI Socialist Democrats voting to keep it and possibly extend it. :(
“This was always about setting precedent for universal income.”
sure looks that way. The Socialist Democrats don’t make a MOVE unless it furthers their Socialist agenda.
Sure wish our side worked like that, always working toward/defending Conservative principles. :(
Its because often just one thing they do, is able to further multiple goals/agendas.
I ‘intercepted’ a letter from Enemy Ranks, yesterday. A fundraising letter from Evers, asking to raise $75K by the end of June.
Some pull-quotes:
“A recent poll showed us (Read: Me, Tony Evers) up only ONE POINT against a GENERIC Republican candidate.” *SNORT* That is some VERY bad news! Very, very bad! (Yippee!)
“We have defeated the GOP and far-right EXTREMISM before. I need your help to do it again!” *SMIRK*
“But the GOP has not missed a beat. Fueled by right-wing EXTREMISM, the Republican Party is energized. They know the party that wins the White House usually loses seats across the nation in the following midterm election.” (It’s gonna be a bloodbath, Tony!)
“We cannot let History repeat itself!” *SNORT*
“Wisconsin Legislature follows a Nation-wide systemic push against voting rights!” (LIAR!)
“We must prepare to combat every voter suppression TRICK the Republicans throw at us!” LOL!
“And then, led by Senator Ron Johnson, the GOP spread far-right FEVER across Wisconsin during and after the 2020 presidential election!” Um-Hmmm.
Diana Here: Bad News, though: Looks like Reince Priebus is considering running for Governor. Blech!
I wish Walker, who wasn’t perfect admittedly, but pretty good overall, would run again.
My sources tell me he’s not interested. He has bigger things in store. :)
He’s under contract until 2024 or so, but his current gig is bringing new, conservative fresh faces to the GOP, which can’t hurt.
I really, REALLY wish he hadn’t wasted so much ammo on running for President against Trump. Ill-fated, whoever was advising him at the time. :(
If we get the right people in place, and Rebecca Kleefish is doing an OUTSTANDING job of placing/promoting Conservatives in our state (33 seated, so far!) Wisconsin IS going back to Walker Days, no doubt. :)
