In Virginia, Democrats didn’t directly defund the police, but they removed their sovereign immunity. Exposing individual officers to liability suits from criminals is just another off budget expense for them to endure. So YES! Virginia Democrats DID defund the police.

So, it’s “misleading” to say that Democrats have been reducing police budgets, calling policing systemically flawed and racist, encouraging and rewarding illegal border crossings, giving prisoners early release time, decriminalizing many crimes, and refusing to enforce many others? Here, he tries the old "straw-man" argument. I don't know if anyone actually claimed that ALL Democrats support anti-policing efforts, but it is undeniable that the movement has broad support in the party at the highest levels and in major cities.
