The family of a promising Ugandan activist who was thought to be the “future Oprah” is gearing up to sue the US National Park Service for what is believed to be more than $270 million after she was decapitated in a freak accident in Utah’s Arches National Park, Yahoo! News reports.
Human rights activist Esther Nakajjigo, 25, saw her promise as a future Oprah extinguished when on June 13, 2020, she died in the park after a traffic control gate slammed into her rental car.
Strong winds apparently blew a metal pole from an unlatched gate into the car and decapitated Nakajjigo while her husband, Ludo Michaud, looked on in horror.

What a terrible thing to happen to the young woman. Her family and friends have my deepest sympathy.
(Describing her as “the next Oprah” is probably not the best way to get total strangers to care.)

The lawsuit is a good start.
The manufacturer of the gate and/or contractor who installed it may have a problem here, but even in that case they sure as hell don't have $270 million of liability insurance coverage.
I predict someone's insurance carrier is going to write a check for several million dollars, and that will be the end of this lawsuit.

As am I. Her death (may she rest in peace) sounds like it was lifted from the plot of the 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 films. If true, strange times.
She wasn’t even fat, so how could she be the future Oprah?
If they were trespassing, there goes the case.
The story is all over the web. Not much detail about how it happened, just that she was decapitated.
Next Oprah? Nonsense.
There is something missing from the story.
This is certainly a horrific accident, and it does sound like the Park service was at fault. However, this very short passage mentions this “future Oprah” idea a total of EIGHT times? Isn’t it tragic enough that the woman died in this manner, regardless of what someone thought her potential was?
