Andrew Yang - once considered a favorite to win New York City's mayoral primary - conceded less than two hours after the polls closed Tuesday night.

'You all know I am a numbers guy, I'm someone who traffics in what's happening by the numbers,' Yang told supporters in Manhattan. 'And I am not going to be the next mayor of New York City based upon the numbers that have come in. Tonight, I am conceding this race.'

As of 1am, he had just over 90,000 votes, well shy of the leader - Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, who has 247,062 votes, which accounts for 31.6 percent of the votes.

I do like Andrew Yang of all the leftist people out there. But he needs more conviction. And not be so wishy washy...

If you’re going to run a balanced campaign you can’t just be all Yang, you gotta have sone Yin too.

I’m glad I’m down here in Grady Judd country and don’t have a dog 🐕 in the NYC mayoral hunt.

Yang is going precisely nowhere in today’s Democrat party. He isn’t insane enough to fit in well with them.

Yang is too asian and too moderate(even though very leftwing). No chance at all.

"Adams may have benefited most from the policing debate.
He denounced the 'defund the police' slogan and proposed reinstating a disbanded plainclothes unit to focus on getting illegal guns off the streets."

He seems like a good choice, as does Sliwa. I don't hold out much hope that New Yawkers will choose someone who will actually take a hard line on criminals. It takes maturity and intelligence to choose someone like that.

Eric Adams is probably among the least bad of the candidates offered, and he does have some chops with the political picture in New York City.

Still - anybody but de Blasio.

Eric Adams might be the least bad candidate, but it still isn’t enough to save the city from de Blasio’s damage.

Every cop that worked with Adams hated him. But, he’s not stupid; he lives in a safe neighborhood in Jersey City.

I don’t see any future for NYC short of being a ward of the federal state.

It is a cess pool.

Yang is not that moderate. He is the candidate that wants to supply a minimum monthly income to the bottom 500,000 in NYC
They are all far lefties but Adams at least, as a former police captain, who doubles up as a black racist, is not a defund the police guy. The best vote in NYC is the one you do with your feet and get out of Dodge if you are not a nutjob progressive

A BIG problem is that NYC commuters still aren't coming in to the office. It will improve, of course, but (IMO) nowhere near pre-pandemic numbers will be willing to come in to the office. That will drastically effect NYC office rents, property values, businesses that depend on office workers and city and state tax revenues. It's a much larger problem than that NYC has turned into an even bigger and more dangerous ****hole than it was before de Blasio. Commuting is just unpleasant, and in 2021 a waste of time for many people.

I commuted for years, and I've been telecommuting for more than 15 years now. I would require more money than any sane person would ever pay me to commute to NYC now.

Heard many Republicans voted Dem in this primary so that the candidate for the dems wouldn’t be the farthest left wing candidate. Usually I frown on that tactic, but right now the person in second place is extremely left wing, still running on defunding over a billion in law enforcement city budget.
