CNN Goes Nuts Over GOP Filibuster of S1: 'Life or Death for Democracy'

CNN's New Day went nuts this morning in reaction to the Republican filibuster of S1, the so-called "For the People Act," which would largely federalize elections. CNN New Day co-host John Berman fumed:

"Senate Republicans are afraid to even discuss voting rights . . . Of course Mitch McConnell likes the status quo because status quo is Republican-led states rigging the system."

CNN chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, continuing his comeback tour after his Zoom-masturbation suspension, then claimed that the voting rights bill is nothing less than:

"Life or death for the democracy . . . an existential crisis for the United States."

Senate Republicans are afraid to discuss voter rights. They are afraid to discuss everything that is good for America. Our definition of voter rights is quite different than the left’s, but Senate Republicans that are a bunch of pussies. They don’t fight. They don’t make the arguments. They don’t win. They will hide behind a vote on cloture. That’s pretty low risk.

If voter ID laws are "racist" because minorities don't have IDs (they don't ?), why doesn't the FedGov simply issue a free picture ID to anyone who needs one and can prove both identity and citizenship? It's nowhere near as expensive as many of the other things they do.

They already do things like that (think passports, TWIC cards, CAC cards, etc.); this would just be subsidized for those who couldn't afford it.
