Louisiana’s Democrat Gov. John Bel Edwards vetoed constitutional carry legislation on Friday.
The Daily Advertiser noted that Edwards vetoed the legislation, Senate Bill 118, claiming current state law requiring law-abiding citizens to get a permit “strikes the right balance.”
State Sen. Jay Morris (R) sponsored the legislation. He responded to Edwards’ veto by saying, “I certainly can’t say it’s a surprise; the governor has been clear all along. But I’m still disappointed. This bill is for law-abiding and freedom-loving citizens.”

He probably was NOT elected just like Biden was NOT elected!!
WTH!??????
who is this prick, anyway?
the constitution is clear as a bell and he thinks he alone has the right to take away American citizens’ rights?
This terrible governor needs to be replaced and replaced asap!
You'd better believe it. Louisiana has been trending conservative and republican for decades. This Dem was highly unlikely.
The point of the second amendment is to prevent government from infringing on the right to keep and bear arms.
striking the right balance, as this A-hole puts it, is expressly forbidden by the second amendment.
You knew that was coming.
Democrats want us disarmed.
Armed citizens are an occupational hazard to the criminal segment of their voters.
Short rope. Tall Liberty Tree, seeking to be watered by the blood of tyrants.
Can he be overriden?
All the people that honest people don’t want to see carrying weapons already do anyways. Constitutional Carry is a no brainer.
That’s the only question that needs to be asked.
Does the state Congress hold a veto proof majority?
Ok, I'm back
The NRA is urging Louisianans to contact their state lawmakers and urge them to override Edwards’ veto.
The NRA tweeted: “Your NRA is going to STAND and FIGHT back against this UNNECESSARY veto. Louisianans: Contact your Reps and Senator’s ASAP and make sure they support an override session and an override.”
Need 2/3 vote in both Houses to override Governor’s veto. Very close but perhaps they can get a couple of Dems to side with Republicans.
You get what you vote for. In the case of Bidet, I guess they figure no mean after mid night tweets. As far as Bel Jar goes, they seem to have a dem bent there.
the bill is veto proof so the legislature needs to come back and override his veto, They have more than enough votes to do it.
The citizens ought to have John Bel Edwards tax paid armed security eliminated immediately.
Trying to suck up to the Occupy White House crowd. The coming over ride is a win-win for Republicans and Edwards. They get what they want and he gets to suck up to the Democrat/communists.
Very close? 39/12 senate and 105 /35 in the House. Not even close to close. Over ride will be a breeze.
The governor holds the office for four years and can choose
to run for reelection. The Governor is not eligible to serve
more than eight years in any twelve-year period.
************
He can’t run for re-election after this term without sitting
out a term.

Don’t know anything about LA politics...is the legislature likely to override this veto?
