This is security camera footage from inside a condo in the building. The resident was not at home. It looks like the crumbling started and there was a very little time to react. There was already “snow” accumulated in the video though.
I found this tidbit of interest. It’s from the NY Times. I suspect it will be a while before they know what happened.
“One other clue that a problem started at the bottom of the building: Immediately before the collapse, one of the residents saw a hole of sorts opening near the pool.
Michael Stratton said his wife, Cassie Stratton, who is missing, was on the phone with him and was looking out through the window of her fourth-floor unit when, she told him, the hole appeared. After that, the call cut off.
Rick De La Guardia, an engineer based in Miami with experience in forensic investigation of building component failures, said that the collapse could have also started higher than the foundation, possibly on the second floor, based on his cursory review of the columns in the floor plans and his review of the video.”
It happened at 1:30 AM, just when the bars have closed and the drunks start driving. Yeah. I could see a drunk taking out a column.
Had this fortunate woman knocked on any doors to warn others, she probably would have come across unbelievers: people who could not believe what was happening, was really happening. She would have herself died in the rubble.
And then there’s the account of a woman talking to her husband at 130 AM describing seeing the pool deck fall intovictim hole moments before she began screaming, then silence, evidently a victim.
Yes, that’s right.
Look at the first and 3rd pics after the video. You can clearly see the crater next to the pool and garage. You can also see the piers from below the pool deck sticking up from below, see the number 42 written on the white pier designating a parking spot. That belongs under the deck. The pool area collapsed and took down the rest. Look at the cars, they have fell 4 feet, see parking spot #72. The parking deck belongs above the white part of the pier. The brown part of pier should be above ground.

Thankfully, she used her brain and her legs and got out in time. I wish the woman who supposedly called her husband had left instead of using the phone.
I agree but why give them the argument?
She wasnt giving anyone an argument.
She was recounting what she went through in an event she experienced.
Shes not in court.
People can talk about the trauma they went through.
Do you 24/7/365 parse what you say for fear of being dragged into court?
Florida is a comparative negligence state. So even if an argument could be made that her failure to recognize the building was collapsing and run out was negligence (which it couldn’t), her degree of negligence would be minuscule compared to that of the building owner and any contractor working on the building. The reality is that the defendants will not have nearly enough insurance or assets to cover even a fraction of the claims.
A guy who was a good friend in High School is one of those.
I left the workplace when there was a bomb threat and they brought in sniffer dogs....it was at a mall but standing outside the building wasn’t good enough for me....neither was waiting for the mangers to direct the people outside. I went home and told them to call me when the coast was clear.
As I see it your responsible for your own safety in such instances. You did do the right thing.

they will do this regardless of what this woman says or doesn’t say
so she doesn’t influence their tactics at all
