Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that an incident involving a British destroyer in the Black Sea couldn't have triggered a global conflict even if Russia had sunk the warship because the West knows it can't win such a war.
The tough statement appeared to indicate his resolve to raise the stakes should a similar incident happen again.
Speaking in a marathon call-in show, Putin also revealed that he received the domestically produced Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine and urged Russians to get vaccinated as the country battles a devastating surge of cases and deaths amid widespread hesitancy to get the shot.
Putin was asked about the June 23 incident in the Black Sea, in which Russia said one of its warships fired warning shots and a warplane dropped bombs in the path of Britain's HMS Defender to force it from an area near Crimea that Moscow claims as its territorial waters. He said a U.S. reconnaissance aircraft had joined what he described as a “provocation" to test Russia's response.

He’s right about one thing. No way could NATO successfully invade Russia or win a sea battle in the Black Sea.

Yep. Before they could even think about invading Russia NATO’s EU forces would have to put down their bongs and vacate the brothels for a few months of training. US troops would have to ditch the rainbow wigs that Millethead is going to require. And the USN would have to get all the pregnant women off the ships.

Putin is right on this one. The EU and NATO have been trying to use the Ukraine to lure Russia into a war for sometime now. So far he has not taken the bait. I have no doubt they deliberately provoked him.
The one part of it that will become a fact is that the Russians WILL take a shot at either a ship or a plane over there.
The other that might become a fact is Russian naval ships showing up off our eastern coast. They are already within a short distance from Hawaii.
Instead of a prisoner exchange, can we do a president exchange?
As an aside Navy warplanes out of Sigonella could have been over Benghazi in less than an hour ... they were ordered to stand down by the Obama administration.

An incident like this is bound to happen before long. Biden is weak and incapable of managing an international crisis.
Our adversaries around the world know this, and they are not going to wait long to exploit their good fortune.
I believe you are right about the ensuing market panic. Ten percent is probably optimistic IMO, mainly because the market also knows that Biden is frail and not in charge of anything.

Russia has some nasty weapons. Those wishing to provoke a confrontation or incident with them might regret it.
I also think our reliance on European nations is a very weak link in the administration’s defensive strategy.
I’m not trying to come off as a Putin fan girl but two things he cannot allow to happen.
1- lose his military port on the Black Sea
2- Ukraine joining NATO
Ukraine egged on by the EU was making noise about not renewing the lease on that black Sea port so Putin took Crimea to ensure it didn’t happen.

At this very moment the USA knows the precise location of every Russian ship operating in the Black Sea. That gives pause, even to someone like Putin.
Oh, I am no longer sure about that. The US is more concerned with gays and CRT.
Face it, the US no longer cares or defends all US citizens. They take care of non citizens and steal from and jail good citizens.
