it took 5 years of investigating, and millions of dollars to find out that someone got company perks? What a surprise, don’t most companies and corporations give well-paid top executives perks instead of more money?

“I am not a suit, but anyone familiar with big corporate America knows that bennies like this for the board room are standard practice and this is not typically considered a criminal matter by the state or IRS.”

I worked for a large corporation. Most executives I knew used CPA’s or tax lawyers to prepare their returns and took a conservative approach to paying taxes on perks as well as deductions. Most wanted no issues with the IRS and probably overpaid to avoid attracting scrutiny. The corporations I worked for were very meticulous in reporting non-business income (example personal use of company vehicles, aircraft, or apartments) as taxable earnings to the employee.

It has been my experience first generation wealthy entrepreneurs and small business owners are more likely to fail to report income or take unwarranted deductions.

New York is particularly aggressive in interpreting tax law. I know of two occasions where the state of New York contacted a company I worked for (in another state) and wanted the company to report to New York tax officials the number of days each employee was in New York on business. New York considered the employees as earning income in NY the days they were doing business there. The state wanted the employees to file NY state tax returns on the income it considered “earned” in NY. To its credit the company refused to provide the data and made it clear to the NY officials it would fight any overt action in court.

The press is certainly celebrating the criminal complaint against the Trump organization CFO. Clearly the presumption of innocence, until proven guilty, is forgotten.

Given the pathetic nature of the charges, they would be more effective if they literally threw a sink at Trump.

They want us dead. But since they haven’t managed to get the guns yet they will settle for imprisoning every single political enemy.

Because that is all he has to throw...is a kitchen sink! Everything else is as thin as water, and the DA knows it!

This is nothing more than an attempt to squeeze someone, anyone, to give up a little sliver of dirt on Trump - PERIOD!

I guarantee every large corp in NYC gives these exact same perks to their senior execs...and few, if any, pay taxes on it!
