Activist Teachers Brag About Injecting Race, ‘Equity’ Lessons In Elementary Classrooms
Breitbart ^ | 7-5-2021 | Kyle Olson

Several King County, Washington, activist teachers revealed to Crosscut how they inject race and “equity” lessons into their elementary classrooms.

Kent teacher Joanne Barber took advantage of violent Black Lives Matter protests last year “to teach more about race” in her second grade class.

“I am willing to be that teacher that has those hard conversations,” she said. “I would be doing a huge disservice to my students if I didn’t give them information that they could see themselves in.”

She told Crosscut learning that “racial history” is “just as important as reading or math.”

Barber teaches children 7- and 8-year-olds that slavery “led to institutional racism and implicit bias.” She also “weaves race and equity into every subject” and “every day in her class is filled with race education.”

Patricia Shelton, a curriculum developer in the Bellevue School District, told Crosscut, “In Bellevue, we have been working very hard in grades 5, 8 and 11 to de-center the traditional ‘white’ perspective and to center the voices of people of color.”

Shelton’s colleague, equity specialist Shomari Jones, said he successfully removed works such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and To Kill a Mockingbird because they contained the N-word.

“There were so many instances of students feeling further oppressed by being in a classroom space where these books were being read aloud,” he said. “[These] have continued the racial trauma and racial stamina necessary for a negatively impacted student to endure when attending school.”

Activist teachers and administrators have begun meeting resistance from parents who argue such “equity” education is leftist indoctrination.

Ground zero for that fight has been Loudoun County, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC. Angry parents attended a recent school board meeting to demand answers, only to have board members flee and order police to remove attendees.

Get your children away from these leftist, unionized teachers. They're teaching your children to hate you, their country and themselves.

White people are being marginalized

So why do I hear all of this is necessary because of marginalized people who feel like second class citizens because of their skin color?

All of this furthers such feelings, it doesn’t “end racism”.

Stop making people ashamed of their skin color,

Teaching “equity” is teaching communism. There is no place in schools for this.

"Shomari Jones removed The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and To Kill a Mockingbird because they contained the N-word."

I'd wager $1,000 he has read neither of those books.

He obviously doesn't have a clue about Atticus Finch or how he supported social outcasts and victims of prejudice.

Huckleberry Finn was first and foremost about the evils of racism. Twain was passionate about the racial equality debate, feeling that it was a moral right for America to allow African-Americans the same freedoms as whites. Twain’s statement that “Lincoln’s Proclamation … not only set the black slaves free, but set the white man free also” clearly reflected his approval of the Reconstruction’s progressive ideals. It is unsurprising that Twain’s viewpoint was structured within a narrative dealing with race relations, as he felt American society must change. It gives credence to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn aiming to critique American society and make readers understand its ills. (source: "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: Analysing its Racial Context and Reception")

By removing two outstanding, exemplary American novels about the evils of racism, Jones is revealing himself to be an uneducated freaking idiot -- the very LAST person you would want teaching your children about race.

I'd wager $1,000 he has read neither of those books.

He may have read them but he's too stupid to understand what they are really about. He probably only had eyes for the forbidden "N-word." Stupidity, phrased politely as "lack of intellectual depth," seems to be a recurrent aspect of the current racist anti-White movement.

That’s a distinct possibility, too. He is so mono-focused on that word he can find no other redeeming value in the books. They are the true classic American anti-racist books — and he bans them.

That is weapons-grade stupidity.
