But their goal is obviously must larger than just statues. They are following the 1984 playbook:

From what I understand. It is a local government agency. They are at least somewhat accountable.

Regardless of who and what these statues represent, they were art. We are constantly told that we should respect art no matter how we personally feel about it. Heck we even have government funding art that many if not most feel is offensive. Why are these statues different from the thousands of other public art projects that offend somebody ???
