Biden touts $300 monthly payments for 39m families going out today. Tells kids in audience they 'deserve ice cream' after his 'boring' speech.

Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris held a White House event Thursday marking the day the first round of child tax credit payments go out to some 39 million American families. 'This is a middle class tax cut,' Biden said. 'This is a tax cut for having children.' The tax credits were part of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan which was passed by Congress in March with no Republican support. Republicans have argued that the child tax credit boost amounts to an expansion of the welfare state. 'We'll probably hear from our Republican friends all who voted against this, but they'll tout the success as it helps working families in their states and their districts,' Biden said, noting the lack of GOP support - and encouraging lawmakers to pass another bill that would make the tax credit permanent.

The White House invited nine families, including children, who will benefit from the enhanced tax cut to the event. 'For you anybody under the age of 13, this is going to be boring, boring, boring for you, right?' Biden warned the young audience members at the top of his remarks. 'We've got to work something out here ... they owe you some ice cream for this.' At another point Biden assured audience members it was alright for their kids to get fussy as he spoke. 'That's OK, don't worry about it,' Biden said, as he tried to guess the gender of a baby and then settled on 'whichever.'

The boost will see individuals who make under $75,000 and couples earning under $150,000 with children under six-years-old receive $3,600 per child, with monthly $300 checks starting to go out July 15.

If those Americans have children between the ages of six and 17 they'll receive a $3,000 tax credit, receiving $250 a month starting Thursday.

'This would be the largest ever one year decrease in child poverty in the history of the United States of America,' Biden touted.

Harris, who introduced Biden, did a call-back of one of the president's most famous quips when he served under President Barack Obama, in her opener.

'Let me underscore one important piece, this tax cut will be issued in monthly payments and America, yes, it is a big deal,' she said.

Individuals who make below $200,000 and couples making less than $400,000 are still eligible for the $2,000 child tax credit, the amount the credits were previously capped.

Parents will get half the credit they are eligible for in 2021, and will be able to claim the rest when completing this year's federal tax return early next year.

Why on earth does a couple making $150K have ANY need for “help”? I make much less than $75K, live on my own (a woman), and am just fine.

How much of this money will actually be spent on the kids?

Ditto. My kids are grown, so I’m only paying for it for others too.

Because with inflation - in two years the only people receiving ‘help’ will be the usual democrat voters.

Hey, choosing to have kids is supposed to imply that the parents are taking on the RESPONSIBILITY that goes with being a parent, NOT passing the buck to “society”. A strong society is a self-reliant society and that comes from a self-reliant populace, not a populace dependent on others.

“ How much of this money will actually be spent on the kids?”

Well, if you count it as buying dope and liquor as “for the kids”, then a lot of it will be. It’s all in how you count things.

This sucks if you don't have kids. There is certainly prejudice against us built into the tax code and municipal funding for schools.

I demand the NEA push all school boards to require teachers to train (indoctrinate) all school kids that they are a burden on the childless.

Notice they didn’t call him “President” Joe Biden.

The media knows what’s coming.

This isn’t so much about helping Americans, but helping the invasion of illegals. Bank on it.

Even fewer women will go back to work... and as sweet an idea as it is to give money to children - I fear the unintended consequences might be acna problem.

Reminds me of the new step-father who joins the family and instantly wants to get a second mortgage on the wife’s home ... so the family can have more fun... live larger. And a few years later everyone’s broke and the man moves on to his next target.

Same here....since when would $150 grand not be enough to raise a family, have vacations, new cars and a home? People are not watching their finances today.....want more of more which is just more.
