Why My Son Is Unvaccinated
Townhall.com ^ | July 17, 2021 | Michael Reagan

Posted on 07/17/2021 4:29:20 AM PDT by Kaslin

Since I’m spending this week vacationing with my family in Newport Beach, I thought I’d talk to my son Cameron and let him do a little ranting.

Cameron is 43. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two little girls, ages 3 and 5.

His wife works full-time as a home loan processor and he has one of the toughest jobs in the world – stay-at-home dad.

That means for the last 15 months Cameron has been the parent who’s had to deal the most with the unpredictable craziness of California’s oppressive and unpredictable war on COVID-19.

He was the one who went to his daughter’s swimming lesson and had to watch the instructor stand in the pool wearing a mask.

“I wondered if it was like waterboarding yourself,” Cameron joked a few hours before Los Angeles County announced on Thursday that because of the recent rise in COVID cases — not deaths or hospitalizations — everyone must again wear masks in indoor public spaces — no matter what their vaccination status is.

Cameron has never been a fan of mandatory face masks — to say the least.

He’s no Dr. Anthony Fauci, but he knows forcing school kids to wear bacteria-laden masks six hours a day in class and during recess not only defies common sense, it makes kids sick.

Cameron knows a lot of people – old and young, white and black, Latino and Asian – and he knows those who got hit hard by COVID and who didn’t.

“I know a 95-year-old who got COVID and nothing happened. My wife’s mother’s boyfriend was on chemo and got COVID and he’s fine.”

Cameron knows that those are just two COVID cases with positive outcomes and that the death toll from the virus in LA County is nearly 25,000 people.

But he says you never hear those kinds of good stories because of the media’s constant negativity.

“All you hear is fear-mongering. It’s been fear-mongering from the beginning. I don’t believe a word these people are saying.”

I really get upset when I see the media blaming Trump for the disproportionate percentage of blacks and Latinos who’ve not got the vaccine.

Are there Trump supporters not getting vaccinated? Yeah. Biden supporters — who are black? Yeah. Hillary supporters — who are Latinos? Yeah.

Don’t tell anyone in the Biden White House or at CNN, but millions of unvaccinated Americans don’t support either political party.

Some won’t get vaccinated for sensible scientific reasons – because they’re young and healthy, or pregnant, or they’ve already had covid and recovered.

Some think the vaccines haven’t been tested well enough. Some will never get vaccinated for religious reasons.

Some simply don’t like or trust vaccines – or a federal government that forces potentially unsafe vaccines on them.

It shouldn’t surprise you that Cameron voted for Donald Trump.

But despite what Biden’s surgeon general and some liberal pundits want everyone to believe, President Trump is not the reason he has not been vaccinated – and never plans to be.

As he says, “I think the vaccine should be for people in high-risk categories – if you have a compromised immune system, you’re a 300-pound diabetic or over 70.”

Cameron says Trump has nothing to do with his Latino friends not getting vaccinated, either.

“They think it’s just weird. It’s stupid. It’s American silliness — crazy gringos.”

“They’re in all age groups. Armenians and Russians that I know think the same. They don’t believe the hyperbole. A lot of them are young and healthy and feel their immune systems are fine.”

As for his daughters, Cameron says, “They will not get vaccinated. There’s no way. They are 3 and 5. I’m not going to do it.”

And he doesn’t care who Fauci says should still be wearing masks or getting the COVID vaccine.

“That guy could get a job working for the Weather Channel because they’re the only people on the planet that could be more incorrect than him.”

Cameron sounds like he has his head on straight!

My 20-something son has worked as a contractor in a hospital setting every day since the beginning of covid, has even set up isolation rooms, has been face to face with hospitalized patients, and for a good part of last year didn’t wear a mask to work. When he’s not at work he has been living life as normal, no mask, out and about, traveling, hanging out with friends. Never even got a sniffle. He says he will not get an experimental vax (like the rest of us) - his immune system obviously is working why mess with it.

I’m just glad we voted Biden in so the vaccine could be invented with operation warp speed because Trump was actively blocking all vaccine development /s

Once again the antivaccers blow their propaganda up everyone’s collective a$$s and frankly I don’t give a toss if someone is vaccinated or not. I personally think it’s better to have it than not, but if someone doesn’t that’s fine too. The COVID genie is out of the bottle (or rather out of the lab) and there’s no going back. We all have to deal with it as we see fit, but don’t try and convince others that your way is the best way. You’re a crashing bore if you do and you won’t convince anyone anyway.

Just read the CDC’s own VAERS Report as it continually updates.

I’m positive it’s better to have than not but there are exceptions. I also would not make it mandatory in any situation.
Not a single ICU covid case in our hospital system has been vaccinated. Multiple hospitals. That’s a significant statistic. And BTW many that weren’t getting the vax that work at hospital are now with this current wave. Patients are younger. This will end. All pandemics do. One way or the other.
Get or don’t get it.
Thanks to Trump it is available and much earlier than it would’ve been under demented Joe. Also, I doubt we would have had monoclonal antibodies as fast. I’ve given several doses last week to unvaccinated people who were very sick. It’s very effective.

It appears once they’re done getting all the miles they can out of the covid “crisis” they’ll be back on the “climate change/ global warming” crisis....you can hear they’re already gearing up for it. .....so your comment ‘the government never lets go of anything” would also include sometimes they just switch places with something else.

How about the hospitals that FIRED nurses in May & June who had worked all of 2020 & into 2021 IN the hospitals-—alongside Covid every day & were NOT sick???

THEN they got fired for refusing the shots.

No one is convinced anymore, so it is now force. One day soon, our increasingly authoritarian government will decide to take his children away from him for their health and if he protests enough, they will arrest him, cancel him and worse. that is where we are going as a fascist/communist state being born.

“I think the vaccine should be for people in high-risk categories – if you have a compromised immune system, you’re a 300-pound diabetic or over 70.”

If you have a compromised immune system, why would a vaccine be helpful? Isn’t it designed for a certain response from an uncompromised immune system?

Gun violence will be the next “crisis” that the government will attempt to legislate out of existence.

Climate change is already accepted science, doncha know? The only remaining issue is how much money can we throw at it?

Maybe you haven’t been paying attention to current events lately, but everything points to a major segregation of society and loss of rights due to simply not being vaxxed, er, medicated against a 99.95%-survivable disease with fetal-cell tainted chemicals.

I, for one, am facing being fired.

No one’s trying to convince YOU

We’re warning of increasing tyranny, govt and corporate. That is what this entire website is all about.

Hospitals here have very few cases and this is by NYC so we’ve reached herd immunity and I am very healthy with a resting pulse in the 50s and no plan to get the “vax.”

Wouldn’t be prudent. 🤹🏼‍♀️🐸😱🗣

It is so infuriating!

My son is not a HCW but he is in that environment in a different role. So far his company, nor the hospital, have required him to get the shot. I hope they won’t go there. His bosses are conservatives so I’m not sure they ever will, but the hospital is a different story.

One of my doctors in a hospital that became something of Covid specialists furtively told me that she had originally worried each morning before going to work (then got caught up in the swing of it once at the hospital) until she and her fellow doctors eventually noticed how they weren’t getting sick.

She wasn’t expressly in a Covid ward, but it was a small hospital and they were treating a lot of it.

he has one of the toughest jobs in the world – stay-at-home dad

Nonsense. I've been a stay-at-home dad, and it's a piece of cake.

You want a tough job, try digging trenches. In Phoenix. In July.
