before I let anyone go with me to the range to shoot my guns I require them to listen to my 25 minute gun safety lecture. It is quite sufficient. If you are new to firearms just seek out an experienced and responsible shooter or hunter and they can tell you what you need to know with regard to gun safety.
1 - Every gun is loaded and should be handled and treated as such.
2 - Never point a gun at anyone and watch out when moving the barrel around so you don’t accidentally do it. Point it down. Refer to #1.
3 - Don’t put your finger on the trigger until your ready to shoot. Refer to #1 and #2.
Many other rules but I start there. Once you pull the trigger you can’t put the bullet back or unshoot something.
