The Prime Minister is facing his biggest backbench rebellion to date over his plan to introduce compulsory vaccine passports from September. Conservative backbenchers were left outraged when Mr Johnson confirmed last night his intention to make Covid vaccines necessary for entry to nightclubs.
The announcement caught MPs off guard, with the plans sprung on the public unexpectedly.
Ministers had previously ruled out introducing any form of passporting for domestic events but U-turned last week saying proof of two jabs, a negative test, or natural antibodies was recommended for large, indoor gatherings.
Yesterday Mr Johnson went further by saying proof of double vaccination would be a legal requirement to access nightclubs and similar events from the end of September.
Describing the plans as "compulsory vaccination through the back door", one angry Conservative MP told Express.co.uk: "This is a big mistake".
In the Commons today Mark Harper, the former Government chief whip and leader of the Covid Recovery Group of Tory MPs, compared Mr Johnson to King Charles I, whose tenure on the throne ended when England plunged into a civil war.

Good. Do it. I remember what he said about Trump when the election was being stolen. Trump should have let him die of Covid when he was in the ICU instead of sending a top notch medical team over.

That medical team was never actually sent, although offered. By the time anything could be done about it, BJ was already recovering fast. There was a courteous ‘thanks, but he’s doing fine’ response from the British, and that was that.
