Republicans are blasting a provision in the federal defense budget that would require women to register for the military draft.
The Senate National Defense Authorization Act, approved by the Senate Armed Services Committee last week, contains an amendment that would compel women between the ages of 18 to 25 to sign up for the Selected Service, just as men that age are required to do.
Republican Sens. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, an Iraq War veteran known as a hawk on defense issues, and Josh Hawley of Missouri voted against the proposal.

Why bother making them register? Just get rid of the draft board entirely. We haven’t needed them since at least 1975.
Are they being held to the same height, weight and APFT standards?

I doubt a majority of woman asked for it. Is there any polling? I doubt 33% of women want it.

If they can get a good percentage of the active duty to fall in line they will have their “Brown Shirts or Stasi” or whatever you want to call them. None of this is going to end well.
In 1980 I went down to the post office to register for the draft.
About 15 years later I applied for financial aid in college. I was told I didn’t register. What a crock of shiite.
So I said, “no problem, I’ll just re-register.” Then I was told I was TOO OLD.
I tried to work with my senator, Dianne Feinstein, to get this law fixed. She couldn’t do anything about it.
Now THERE is a Kafkaesque bureaucracy if ever there was one. Get rid of it.
This is a means of the left to cripple the US military by making conscription impossible.
Drafting women is the logical outcome of putting women in Combat Arms.
Did you and your daughter fight to keep women out of the Combat Arms?
I disagree with the Republicans on this one. Women should be subject to the draft should we ever need to implement it again. That’s equality.
They should register.
If called they can fill noncombat roles that need to be filled. Way more of those roles exist to suport actual combat and frontline troops.
Women only want “equality” when they perceive it benenfits them. Thats why.
Did you not get some kind of paper work or receipt showing that you had signed up?
At the time I asked men my age if THEY ever got such paperwork. About a third of them did NOT.
No, I never got such bullshiite paperwork. This is one federal agency that should simply be obliterated. It can be replaced by 1 person at a desk checking social security numbers.
