While I agree with closing the border delta is ripping through Florida. I think it will be a much faster curve than the original however hospitals are packed.
The good news if any is that this plus vaccinated will create herd immunity. The number of hospitalized unvaccinated continues to be 97% and zero vaccinated are progressing to critical illness.
Unless this period creates a vaccine escape variant. I understand that the risk is the highest when you have moderate vaccination rates bumping up against high unvaccination rate. From what I read, that is when the evolutionary pressure on the virus is to mutate toward something that can get past the vaccine.

They made their choice. They've had months to get vaccinated. Now they're in the hospital, probably most of them wishing they had gotten vaccinated and some denying COVID-19 exists even as it kills them.
