In a major step against climate change, President Joe Biden is proposing a return to aggressive Obama-era vehicle mileage standards over five years, according to industry and government officials briefed on the plan.
He's then aiming for even tougher anti-pollution rules after that to forcefully reduce greenhouse gas emissions and nudge 40% of U.S. drivers into electric vehicles by decade's end.
The proposed rules from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation reflect Biden's pledge to attack climate change but also balance concerns of the auto industry, which is urging a slower transition to zero-emission electric vehicles.

Joe doesn’t what day it is.

Man comes out in the morning to drive to work and sees a person in a yellow vest looking into his car.
Man: who are you?
Sir, I’m the mileage checker.
Man: Why are you near my car?
Sir, you’ve exceeded your mileage for the month and I’ll have to boot your vehicle.
Man: But I”m a doctor, I have to go to work!
Sorry Sir. Rules. Nothing I can do. OH, wait, I can call you an Uber, I get a 10% Big Guy kickback from that.
yeah
perhaps someone should test one of these against an emp

This administration is tearing this country apart. Guess their plan is working!

Toyota Puts the Brakes on Electric Vehicles, But Not Just for the Reasons the Verge Says
Will electricity be rationed? Uh, oh.
And poor folks are going to buy these ludicrously expensive vehicles that can only go, what, 100 miles, before needing a long charge ?
Luckily Sleepy Joe will be in the Big Sleep in 10 years or less.
zero-emission electric vehicles
If your mind is able to process this statement, you are insane, an idiot, Joe Biden, or part of the leftist clown show.
The Wolf Administration (Pennsylvania) is lofting a trial balloon to replace the $0.53/gallon gas tax (that’s about $0.027 cents per mile for those getting 19 MPG) with a mileage based fee of $0.081 per mile.
The correct term is pre-admission electric vehicles. The atmospheric admissions occur before the vehicle is driven.
There is not the electrical grid infrastructure to support this change. And battery technology is still not where it should be to make a good sustainable and reliable power supply medium.
Now, let us talk about hydrogen fuel cells, and feasible means to produce compressed hydrogen and distribute the recharge capabilities. Consider there are no hydrogen mines or hydrogen wells. And be mindful of the fact that compressed hydrogen is a highly reactive gas, and manages to leak out of about every design of coupling out there.
Legislating no new ICE cars by 2035 is akin to legislating Pi = 3. It is absolutely insane to think our energy and transportation infrastructure can be changed that fast. If these people are allowed to drive policy in this extremist manner, it will cause huge pain and suffering.
Biden has no idea where the electricity will come from to charge up all the electric cars he wants. He thinks the magic fairy will sprinkle electrons down into those chargers and make it all work.
Ours likely won't, either.
But for Deep State, that's not a bug, it's a feature.
Deep State really doesn't like freedom of movement.
Period.
BiteMe isn’t doing this.
If there is even enuf to charge your car. I suspect solar charge stations will be popular. In my area the electric utility hasn’t even looked into what EVs would mean to their operation.
Meanwhile, Tommie The Commie’s fellow travelers in Pennsylvania are proposing to do away with the $0.576/gallon gas tax and replace it with a mileage tax of $0.081 per mile.
This is nothing but a disincentive for anyone to “do the right thing” and drive a fuel-efficient, hybrid, or electric vehicle.
It will especially hurt low-income people who, because of their financial situation, buy smaller cars that typically get better mileage.
Right now, someone driving a car that gets on average 30 mpg and drives 10,000 miles per year will pay $190/year in gas tax. If these money-hungry libs get their way, that person will pay $810/year (a 426% increase).
These people are stupid.
