Hitler greatly admired Islam.
In before HURR DURR - North Korea is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea but they’re not Democratic.
It wasn’t until I was out of college and got interested in history on my own that I made the realization (Thanks to Winston Churchill’s - A History of the English Speaking Peoples) that the NAZIS were effectively communists. But Hitler didn’t want to work with the world communist leaders as he, rightfully, realized they were just after a power grab. Hitler was a true believer.
I firmly believe it’s why the communists went full tilt to distance themselves from him - because what he did is and was the natural outcome of totalitarian oppression.
See Cuba. See China. See Venezuela.
Socialism does not work.
I wonder if that’s because he thought himself a messianic leader or because he realized, like L Ron Hubbard, that religion is how you really control the masses and wanted to follow Muhammed’s footsteps. (Like Mao and the Emperor of Japan did as well)
Hitler felt Christianity was too weak, and a poor religion for soldiers. Hitler surmised that had the Ottomans prevailed, the Germans would have converted to Islam, which was a much better religion for soldiers, and conquered the world.
Got it.
How'd that go with The Rust Belt?
Ah, but it does work. For those in charge. And only for a while.
And he was a vegetarian. I never knew that.
They were quite happy with him, until he invaded Russia.
I don't know...
In chapter 3 of The Road to Serfdom, entitled "Individualism and Collectivism," Hayek endeavored to define and describe collectivism, with the specific purpose of clarifying the similarities and differences between Communism and Naziism (both being collectivist ideologies). Roughly speaking, Hayek defined collectivism as centrally planned economy.
I don't think Hayek used the word "statist," but my layman's interpretation is that statism would be the specific form of collectivism in which the centrally planned economy is planned by the state. Non-statist forms of collectivism might include non-state sponsored communes, and maybe the financial management of a nuclear family.
This is my understanding, but I'd be happy to be corrected by someone who knows better.
Nazism or fascism = Ethnocentric socialism.
Communism = Multi cultural socialism.
I’ve never saw much difference between the two.
The Soviets had a broad range of ethnicities in their territory. I’ve heard that soldiers would be billeted away from their homes, so that, were it necessary to quell an uprising, they would be shooting countrymen of a different ethnicity than their own.

The US Communists were firmly against US entry in WW2 as long as Hitler and Stalin were allies.
Of course the Nazis were Christian. They had "Gott mit uns" on their belt buckles. /sarc
“Controversial problems [between Germany and Russia] did not, in my opinion, exist anywhere along the line from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea and to the Far East. In addition, despite all the divergencies in their views of life, there was one thing common to the ideology of Germany, Italy and the Soviet Union: opposition to the capitalist democracies in the West.”—Julius Schnurre, Nazi trade rep to Russia.

As has been pointed out before, both Communist socialism and Nationalist Socialism are two bastard sons of the German Philosopher Hegel, by two different philosophical mothers.
International Communist socialists and Nationalist Socialists kill(ed) each other like different drug gangs today .. Bloods versus the Crips.. versus the various Mexican drug cartels.
The only difference is their uniforms / colors.
Had a social-studies teacher in high-school who provided a unique (at the time, for me) view of fascism/communism/right/left.
He drew a circle on the board. Then small arrows around the edge that directed the flow up around the circle from the bottom to the top around the left and the right sides, where the arrows met from opposite directions at the top.
On the left side of the circle, he wrote “Left”, and on the right side, “Right”.
At the bottom, he wrote “Moderates”
At the top he wrote “Fascism/Communism”
That simple circular delineation of how totalitarians merged into a single group has always stuck with me.
