Newsom and Cuomo are both toast as far as national appeal, I believe.
Cuomo yes. But outside of California, Newsom is still fairly unknown. And if somehow Newsom prevails, the media will proclaim him as “The Comeback Kid”.
Cuomo is finished politically.
but with Newsom, he’s still viable if he survives this recall.
If he survives this recall, and wins reelection in the regularly scheduled 2022 election, he will then be said to have a great political future. If he survives this recall, the fact that he was ever subjected to a recall will be forgotten.
I am puzzled, however, because Newsom is one of those white, heterosexual men. Today’s Democrat party is so big on diversity, that the powers that be may push other “diverse” candidates for future presidential elections rather than someone like Newsom.
