Last weekend I came home from a trip to Mexico. I have Global Entry bc I go there a lot for family.
This time, the kiosk instead of asking for my passport just asked me to look at the camera. In about 10 seconds it identified me and pulled my passport and flight info. That was from my passport photo on file.
I am not sure what it would do with twins — it might just have them use their passports.
It was pretty amazing - and a little frightening.
Final note for people who do not know Global Entry. At least at DFW and Miami, the kiosk issues you a “receipt” with your picture on it which you give to a human CBP agent. Theoretically that means it is not 100% automated.
But still...
That is spooky. That is what they are saying this biometric covid thing will do.
When and where did you get your passport photo?
Your airline now asks for a passport as part of your record file with ticketing. So when you hit the kiosk when the flight arrives I imagine that they’re looking to match your image to a range of photos limited by the passengers on flights arriving that day.
