Anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers and the sovereign citizen movement

There is an ever-increasing overlap between the anti-maskers/anti-vaxxers and sovereign citizen movements, not just in the United States, but in Canada, Australia and beyond.

The former believe that COVID-19 poses minimal risk and that the government is overreacting by requiring individuals to protect themselves and others. Despite evidence to the contrary, they consider masks both ineffective and harmful and see vaccines as dangerous. COVID-19 mandates are seen as imposing upon their personal liberties.

What I question is whether God-given and constitutionally secured rights.” is actually a thing among Sovereign Citizens. I’ve dealt with Sovereign Citizens, and the first example given of 200 San Francisco workers, many of them fire fighters, doesn’t seem to be cut from the same cloth as the other examples given. I think this might be a propaganda effort we should probably discuss and figure out. We should understand the Sovereign Citizens movement to keep from being infiltrated and fooled into tilting at other people’s windmills also.

Well, one of the ones I ran into claimed to be an emperor of his own country that consisted of the house he was trying to retitle in order to void a mortgage he was behind on. Then there were the squatters who moved into a multimillion dollar Maryland house recently.

I think this opinion piece might be trying to define innocent conservatives into a known extremist group.

From what I've read the "sovereign citizen" folks claim to be entirely self-sufficient to avoid taxes, yet use taxpayer-funded roads and do not hesitate to call taxpayer-funded emergency services when they need them. IOW they are grifters reaping the benefits of society without contributing to it.

No need to read beyond this point... Masks are provably ineffective to the point of uselessness, and the "vaccines" are provably dangerous, and considerably more so than any widely accepted/administered vaccine in history.
