Charlie Watts, best known as the prolific drummer for the rock band the Rolling Stones for more than half a century, has died. He was 80. A representative for Watts told Fox News Tuesday that the musician "passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family." No cause of death was given yet.

Saw the Stones in 1999, I thought they were old then. RIP
He was the coolest of the Stones. Absolutely unflappable.
Remember very recently he couldn’t drum for the first time in God knows how long. Kinda figured this wouldn’t be long. I saw them in 2015, they were still pretty good, and everyone keyed off Charlie.
What a gig you had man.

The Band filmed “The Last Waltz” in 1976 as a farewell to their fans. Robbie Robertson explained that they’d been on the road for 16 years, “I mean, 16 years on the road, the numbers start to scare ya. I mean, I couldn’t live with 20 years on the road.”
I guess Charlie and the Stones felt differently.
While best known for his work with the Rolling Stones, Watts was an accomplished jazz drummer and leader of his own quintet. RIP

The reality is the stones have lived pretty healthy lives since the 80s. Watts and Richards have been married to the same women for over 40 years. They raised families. They are in pretty good shape and have lived passed the average life spam.
Sad news. I remember a great story about a late night incident where Jagger woke him in the middle of the night with a drunken call demanding “Where’s my drummer?” Watts showered, shaved, put on a suit and tie, went up to Jagger’s room, and knocked him out. ““Don’t ever call me your drummer again. You’re my f***ing singer!”
