Citing two people familiar with the matter, Reuters reported that the license applications the U.S. accepted are worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The reported deal marks a significant victory for Huawei, whose business efforts have been stymied by strict restrictions imposed by both the Biden and Trump administrations.
The Trump administration enacted trade restrictions on the sale of chips and other parts used in its network technology and smartphones businesses, according to Reuters.
Additionally, the Biden administration has thus far reinforced a hard line on exports to Huawei, rejecting licenses to sell chips to the company to be used in or with 5g devices, the news wire noted.
In recent weeks and months, however, sources told Reuters that the U.S. has bestowed licenses allowing suppliers to sell chips to Huawei for various vehicle parts, including video screens and sensors.

I’m not necessarily opposed to Chinese purchasing US made chips. Yes there is a shortage, but making Chips in the USA requires a market, and if we have buyers we will concurrently increase capacity.
And now I have more questions for car dealers because I won't buy a new car, and God knows we're trying, with these in it.
And is anyone else wondering if this deal is the real reason for our alleged chip/car shortage...
Not just Biden, as I am certain you all agree.
To me, the proof was undeniable that large sums of money had been funneled by the Communists through the Biden Family to Joe Biden himself. There was a patriot, a former Naval Officer who was in business and realized what was going on and came clean. He was eloquent, persuasive, and clearly an insider on the China-Biden Team.
It made no difference. Zero. I think he has gone into hiding.
And never mind the laptop. That alone would have been sufficient to torpedo any uncorrupted election campaigner.
Instead...nothing. Almost a resume enhancer. And those of us paying attention DID notice how quiet the Republicans were in all of this. Barely a peep. If that. I suspect most of the Republican Party are in this money/blackmail up to their necks as well. Mitch McConnell, married to Elaine Chao...enough said.
I have been of the opinion for some time now that the politicians not bought off with Communist money or rendered unable to cast a principled vote due to Communist blackmail is a small minority.
I think Basket_Of_Deplorables is correct here. We need to do something, a total flush, or we won’t even have the option of saving our country.
And the people who should be flushed aren’t going to be washed off the gravy train without a fight. We are going to find out that never allowing your country to fall into the thrall of corrupt, grifting Marxists is far, FAR easier than having to fight your way out once it has been taken over.

The article instead of the title makes it sound like China is purchasing licenses, not chips; that is entirely different than purchasing “chips.”
