GARLAND, Texas (AP) — Investigators are looking into whether a Texas man was inspired by foreign terrorists when he killed a Lyft driver in a Dallas suburb and later opened fire in the police station of another suburb where officers fatally shot him.
Police said Imran Ali Rasheed ordered a Lyft in his home city of Garland Sunday then fatally shot the driver, Isabella Lewis. Her stolen car was found a short time later outside the police station in the neighboring community of Plano, where Rasheed began shooting in the lobby before being shot by officers, police chiefs in both cities said at a Monday news conference.
Matthew DeSarno, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Dallas office, said investigators believe Rasheed acted alone but that the 33-year-old left a letter indicating he “may have been inspired by a foreign terrorist organization.” He did not offer more specifics on the letter and declined to identify the group.
DeSarno said Rasheed was the subject of a counterterrorism investigation from 2010 to 2013, when the case was closed after agents determined Rasheed did not currently pose a threat. The agency’s regional terrorism task force is working on the investigation of Lewis’ killing, he said.
Authorities said there was no known connection between Lewis and Rasheed and it’s unclear why he went to the Plano Police Department. “We have no idea why he came to Plano to find police officers,” said the city’s police chief, Ed Drain.

Wow. FBI had this guy on the radar for 3-4 years and then just punted. They should change their name to SFB(sh*tforbrains)
The key words here are that an earlier investigation of the shooter determined that “he did not currently pose a threat”.
WELL!! How about a month later? A year later? Many years later?
He could have been a mental case in the first place and exacerbated by Islamic propaganda against the “Great Satan”, the US. OF he was a “sleeper” Islamic terrorist who decided to act re Afghanistan, ISIS, etc.
Another Obama administration bungle that cost lives.
I trust the FBI as far as I can throw an old canon ball.
They’re corrupt from top to bottom.
Imran Ali Rasheed: Isabella Lewis Murder in Texas May Be Terrorism Related
He was previously known to the FBI, but deemed not a threat. So glad he wasn't one of those nasty white supremacists.
Every damn one of them. If you value your life, stay far from them. They get a sexual thrill from killing people.
What? No MAGA hat?
The FIB is merely another slimy tentacle of the Satanic Deep State Cabal.
They are as malicious as they are dangerous, and there is nothing remotely good about them.
May the Righteous Fury and Divine Wrath of Almighty God be upon all of these evil creatures soonest.
Stop the bull$hit that he was a texan...
He was a terrorist islamist extremist hiding out in Texas
Makes you wonder what the boy's been doing since his initial contacts with the FBI. They've probably been paying him to be an asset all this time. Funny, there's been no mention of his work place, no co-workers, or anyone else that might have known him, or interacted with him recently coming forward to the press. This happened on Sunday. It's now Tuesday. Seems to be a bit secretive to me.
Those years were 2010 - 2013. Does anyone recall who was President then? And who was Vice President at the same time?
>> inspired by foreign terrorists
Possibly a foreign battalion of insurgents?
Maybe he was triggered when the driver mispronounced his last name as Ra-sheet
Maybe he’s the terrorist that was inspiring others. He follows the death cult.
Wasn’t Garland where there was the cartoon shooting years back? I checked yes:

Imran Ali Rasheed
home city of Garland
Sounds more like he WAS the foreign terrorist, not just inspired by them.
The letter probably spelled out he was a radical Islamic terrorist and was operating either for or inspired by the Taliban and/or Al Qaeda.
Of course, the FBI will still declare they can’t quite figure out what his motivations are or what terror group he was working for or on behalf of.
“All investigative steps were taken. I’m comfortable the investigation was done thoroughly and properly,” he said.
OK. Should I be surprised about the outcome?
